Read an article a month or more ago which predicted the cost of solid RhD's will be high this season (higher than normal) given the high demand from teams in contention.
Couple that with the number of teams who are still in the chase and demand is likely to stay high.

IMO, Grabbing a LhD doesnt make sense to me unless Johnson has told them he isn't signing. Fill that 3rd pair need in FA

It may be more difficult to orchestrate during the season vs waiting to the offseason.

- IonSabres

Mayhaps the Sabres feel someone or more can play both sides? It seems to be a growing trend in the league to have young players try a bit on both sides.

It's really hard to parse it any other way. What other game plan could the Dolphins possibly hope to make work other than running the ball down the field all game? And, they can't do that. If the Bills defense gives the offense a few quick 3 and outs....look out it could be ugly early.

Schenn would be a decent get. Just would need to monitor his ice time next to Power. He can't play 23min a night
- Buff36

I would target 2 Schenn types over a high priced defensemen. One to play with power, one to play with Joker. We can’t afford an 8,9 mil Defensemen. 2 3mil would be perfect. They don’t have to be all starts, just better than what we’ve got.

It feels like we're out, but 2 points tonight and it's hard to say we're not in it. It feels worse than it is right now because we saw the team lose three games in a row at home in which our goalies were outplayed 3 times in 3 games. The team itself deserved 2 wins in those 3 games, so we're all at the bottom of the barrel right now (I know I am). Surely, it's not as bad as it feels though.
- lacaprup

In two of those losses, Hellbuyck was outstanding, and Seattle is just a damn good team.

Seattle went to Boston in their next game and shut out the Bruins 3-0 for the Bruins first regulation loss at home.

Impressive for sure.

The Flyers loss hurt, but they're 7-3 in their last 10, and followed up the Sabres win with a 5-3 win against Washington.

The point: All hope is not lost, but they could really use a win tonight.

So far KA's patience has paid off in trades IMO.
Eichel trade , not accepting a deal until krebs was added.

Good value for sam and incredible value for risto

Its easy to criticize the guy, but I have faith in what he's doing.

If you look at the playoff standings, we're basically out and a fix em move is not the move to make. IMO

That is the point, he waited to long to make a tweak that could have helped. He's at the point now where if he's looking to make a addition at D it should be a younger player hopefully that can grow with the team. I would be looking at Grans or Durzi or Severson someone that could grow.
- Buff36

Severson has been mentioned by some/many as a target. At 29 by the time next season roles around, and at $4.2m now then to UFA for next season...how realistic is he as a target?

I am not sure of the exact contract, but is 6 or 5 x ~$5.5m - $6m a wise spend? Feels to me like too much.
I'd rather target a solid D guy for 2 - 3 years...a steady eddy type to let Power roam.

Are they making those available online for mass production, or are they a one time special auction type purchase?

I'd buy one today if it was readily available.

They really couldn’t afford to lose that Philly game. They definitely treated them as an inferior opponent and got humbled.

Like you mentioned though, they outplayed the Jets (who are a legit team in the West this year) but got goalied.

They then played Seattle tough and happened to come out on the losing end of a game that easily could have went their way.

Nothing about the last two losses suggest to me that they won’t be able to stay in the thick of things here till the very end.

Odds are they finish on the outside looking in, but crazier things have happened and teams have made the playoffs going on runs at the end of the year

Only put Severson there cause he is young enough to get 4 to 5 solid years. Johnson signing would be like hitting a trade. He would help immensely with his ability to play both sides. Luke Schenn would be a good get for a few years.

Not sure if jerseys are available for sale, I think it may be just the players wearing them in warmups tonight (probably will be an auction for them).
There are tshirts that come with the ticket package, and I think you can buy the shirt separately.

Edit, from Panthers site
“ During warmups, Panthers players will debut custom ¡Vamos Gatos! warmup jerseys exclusively designed by local artist Carlos Solano, which will be available for purchase immediately following warmups at FLA Live Arena's Inside the Boards. Limited-edition Carlos Solano-designed ¡Vamos Gatos! t-shirts and pucks will also be available to purchase at FlaPanthers.givesmart.com, with all proceeds benefiting the Florida Panthers Foundation.”

Adams isn’t making a trade anytime soon.

He is locked in on chilling and letting it ride.

another wasted year of dahllin

if this team does not compete for playoffs in 14 months, may be time to cut ties with the good vibes gm and coach

You can’t have an 8 game losing streak and then lose 3+ in a row at another point in the season.

If they lose tonight they’re cooked

All the patience hurt them. Because it puts an immense amount of pressure to make the playoffs next season. Someone gets fired if they don’t. Granato or Adams or both

8 points out with a game in hand isn’t an insurmountable mountain to climb considering there is half a season left.

They are 13-7-2 since the 8 game losing streak.

If they continue to play at this pace the next 41 games they finish with 100 points….

It really is though.

They have to be minimum 4 wins better than any other team in front of them the rest of the season, and that doesn’t even include loser points.

There is a reason why everyone talks about if you are not in the playoffs by Thanksgiving you are out.

I wouldn’t call this a wasted year

This was a prove it year for the kids and they are currently proving it.

Think about what the sens did this summer. Expect that from the Sabres this summer

(As long as the kids don’t come crashing down. )

I view the schedule as 20 tough games in the first 40

30 tough games for the remainder of the season

you have 5 guys at roughly a ppg or better in the top line, dahlin and cozens

power is holding his own as a first overall pick

team is closer to 15th place in the east than 8th place

they are not catching the leafs, bruins or tampa for a top 3 seed in the division so they have to be better than all but 1 of these teams to get a spot

caps
pens
islanders
wings
panthers
fyers
sens

losing record vs the sens, flyers, panthers, pens

it's a tough hill to climb IMO

I just outlined how the Sabres can continue playing at the pace they’re at since the losing streak and finish with 100 points (including this current 3 game drought).

The Penguins are currently on pace to finish the season with 96 points….

To say the Sabres are cooked is vastly premature.

Do I think the Sabres ultimately make the playoffs ? Probably not.

I’m not going to choose the path that some have this morning and lose my beans about it when there are 41 games left to play.

The fact that this is the case and this team isn’t comfortably in the playoff picture is alarming. And it speaks to the negligence of the organization’s efforts to put a real blue line and real full time goalies around this core.

Seriously, is Adams going to eventually make his mark on this team or is it just draft and pray?

How much pressure to succeed is there really?

We were dead last 120 games ago.

Expectations are unrealistic to actually make the playoffs.
