Adams isn’t making a trade anytime soon.
He is locked in on chilling and letting it ride. - Sabretooth9
Risk of a trade far outweighs the benefits from his perspective. He rides to the deadline and we we just attempt to dump our UFA, safe no one really complains.
He makes a splash, gives up assets to acquire some pieces we need, we don’t make the playoffs and they don’t pan out, big risk. We are still in a missive rebuild. We have a ton of first and second year players, Dahlin and Tage really just breaking out this year, UPL first signs of potential, Cozens break out year.
Our entire D corps has got to be the youngest in the league by a mile, we have huge signing question marks around salary for Dahlin and Cozens.
I guess my main point is after all this to consider, what can KA do in terms of a trade that would not blow up in his face?
The ask for any serviceable D out there is a first round pick to start the conversion. |

What he'll regret, and won't admit, is not doing more last summer.

Sure, but I am sure they weren't expecting so many to blow past expectations on the ice. Could have making 1 D move taken away a few more High Danger shots, or bad turnovers that have led to costing us games. Are goaltending is shoddy at times, but are Defense or team defense is horrible. Once teams take away the boards or our fast break we are pretty much toast. We don't handle puck pressure in our zone very well. - Buff36
Good for development to learn undervpressure how to handle it now.
Make them better when they to push for the playoffs. |

Depends if that Dman goes on to help us for the next 5 or so years. And any trade now would need to be for the future. Missed that opportunity this year to help. |

Very true, and everything this year is a learning experience hopefully. But there was a opportunity about a month ago to make tweak or so to maybe make that push this year and even gain more experience going through a playoff push. |

I agree. That needed to happen before the season started. Now the asking price is huge. Wait for the deadline overpayment is over and target our real needs this summer. This roster needs to shed at least 4 players. |

All the blame will be pushed on ownership. Which some is probably fair.
Not sure what exactly Adams has done to earn so much good grace with a lot of fans and Twitter analysts |

(shrug) The plan was always to play the kids. If there was one thing I diagreed with it was thinking that any of the young D beyond the top 4 was any kind of prospect. At some point forward depth needs to be swapped out for defenseman.
(and 46 really, really sucks)

I think he and Granato have mostly pressed the right buttons. Nobody should be pinning GM of the year on him but at the same time I think he has generally made the right moves (or non-moves). We'll know in a year or two how right he was.

Spot on, and is in alignment to my post several hours ago. Hockey trades at TDL are rare, they happen but infrequently. |

You’d call Lyubushkin, Comrie and Hinostroza the right moves at this point? They’re 3 of the biggest weak spots on the roster. Also the Anderson signing has now handcuffed them |

Think when Lyubushkin was signed it looked good. Like 39 brought up, he was the wrong Dman to sign if this was the system you are gonna run. |

They were also so high on Joker + Bryson + Fitz that they didn't feel the need to draft D. That hasn't aged well.

Well for starters, he went against the grain with the Jack Quinn selection and so far so good.
Peterka probably goes top 15 in a redraft today as well.
He then got Levi and a first for Reinhart when Buchnevich went for a second and a sold top 6 fwd like Bjorkstrand went for a 4th.
He then turned the late first into Kulich which looks like a home-run so far.
The Eichel trade is respectable so far, no matter what you are going to lose a trade of that magnitude but to turn a player coming off injury with a cap hit many can’t stomach into Tuch, Krebs, Ostlund isn’t terrible.
Oh, and that Tage Thompson guy has the best contract in the league.
We are in a playoff race this year and have the most cap space and best prospect pipeline (or close to it) in the league.

Vinny and Anderson are gone at the end of the year.
Lybushkin and Comrie are off the books by the end of next year and by no means handcuff us at all with the amount of flexibility we have.

Severson has been mentioned by some/many as a target. At 29 by the time next season roles around, and at $4.2m now then to UFA for next season...how realistic is he as a target?
I am not sure of the exact contract, but is 6 or 5 x ~$5.5m - $6m a wise spend? Feels to me like too much.
I'd rather target a solid D guy for 2 - 3 years...a steady eddy type to let Power roam. - IonSabres
Just curious
Does anyone read other teams blogs ?
There's some fans want him benched

Yeah, Bryson was a bit obvious. If you are way undersized, you better be lights out.
Fitz was a bit of bad luck, but this happens 75% of the time. Joker is a good bottom pairing guy. Lybushkin is just awful. He is a massive liability, takes very stupid penalties at terrible points in the game.
D moving forward
Dahlin/Samuelson
Power/??
Joker/??

All this.
Tuch has looked elite at times and is the perfect compliment to Tage. I still think this was a home run for a disgruntled player coming off of experimental surgery.
