I think it would be crazy (stupid) to stand pat. They know players like Braun and JVR will not be with them next year. You sell. And they have said for months they are finding out who is part of the future. Well, whoever is not, you sell. I know many won’t get a lot back but even a 6th round pick is something. - NC Flyers Fan
Braun's probably gone if anybody still wants him. JVR I can't see them trading if they're within shooting distance of a wild card spot. The allure of "anything can happen in the POs" is just too great.
And just based on the way Torts talks, I expect Frost and Bellows to be gone before next season. Maybe Zamula and Allison, too. And Cates will be signed to a long term deal lol.

I can see all of that happening.... and I don't know how they'll do it but I can't see another year of Hayes and Torts. |

Playoffs is just crazy talk. They need to stay the course and attempt to right the ship. Wins and improved play by the youth is wonderful, the Flyers need to remember they are building for the future. Don’t get fooled into thinking the foundation is a full-grown skyscraper. Sell!
Well, here is my list…
Still deciding—DeAngelo, Bellows, Laczynski, Sandstrom
Trade by deadline if possible—Hayes, JVR, Braun, MacEwen, Brown, Seeler |

Willie Desjardins was the solution to get Bedard, or come as close as possible. But flyers "won" Patrick from 13th position. So it's still a chance! 🎂 🥳 |

I can see Cates becoming the new Matt Read. Overvalued, over paid, slotted too high in line-up. Matty Read would have been a perfect 3rd-4th line forward for us. He was paid based on a strong offensive year and never recovered. |

Frost didn't have any points but he played a whale of a game last night. If Tortorella isn't happy with his play now, he's an idiot.

Matt Read was a 3rd line winger for the Flyers and he scored at a high rate at ES and was a pretty good player for the Flyers overall. That is what I wish Cates would develop into.

I told you all a month ago there was a market for Kevin Hayes, especially if the Flyers cover some of his salary, and that one potential landing spot was Boston. Well, here is an article that just came out stating the same exact thing!

The Flyers have already informed teams JVR, Hayes and Provorov are all available. JVR will definitely be moved and will be highly sought after. I think Hayes has a decent shot of being moved by the deadline if the Flyers cover salary, and I think Provorov is gone in the off season. I am a bit squeamish on Provorov however, given what the Flyers are stuck with on defense now and the fact that this draft does not have any projected stud defenseman. |

LMAO, there is nothing there. Know when we'll know if there is a market for Kevin Hayes. When he is traded.

i think read would more be his floor at this point. I think he will have a better career with better numbers than read. Wasn't read also a little older coming to the nhl as well? Defensively yes, but think cates has more offense than read.

The credit goes mostly to Konecny. He studied a ton of video and analytics on his shot locations last offseason -- seeing that he was shooting too much from outside the dots and needing to get inside more -- and worked out like a madman to report to camp in the best shape of his life. All of this was before Day 1 of camp on the ice with Tortorella. Konecny has kept at it ever since. - bmeltzer
Teams have been speculating about what it would take to pry TK from the Flyers for years. The potential, talent and skill was apparent to everyone. Imo Guerin had a plan to convert him to center before Kaprizov’s rookie season when he inquired about him at that time. Instead he moved Hartman there. Most likely Guerin balked at the cost. Just maybe Fletcher should get some credit here.

Pretty good comparison if Cates can pick up his offense. I remember when Read started to lose scoring touch. So much so he started the first half of his last season in here the minors. We bring him up and put him on the last place PK in the league and he instantly helped improve it.
Fact check me. I’m just going by memory. |

there's more satisfaction to be had by watching our draft picks finally put it together than falling into success with a Bedard so I'm not going to lose sleep over not losing. |

I disagree. Our goaltenders have been stellar. They make mistakes, like TK makes mistakes but they have kept at it and are top notch in my mind.
The other good players may not be on the top line level but many have improved or are currently making strides. Very little talk about regression right now. |

Why would Boston upset their chemistry and phenomenal season by getting an inconsistent not team first guy? A big guy who doesn’t use his size and doesn’t always show up is not someone you want taking a roster spot in the playoffs.

Matt Read came to us after 4 year college career and put up good numbers. He may have scored 20+ goals that first year. He got a nice "top 6" contract (I don't remember the figure 10 years ago) and just didn't produce like we had hoped. He may have hit 20 goals again once. He should've been 3rd or 4th line PK guy but our roster forced him to play up the line-up. It just didn't pan out for him. I was critical of him due to the fact that he underperformed. Not his fault at all. |

Read was never the same after he got that high ankle sprain and tried to come back early from it.
