He is stable. Look at his underlying metrics - tomburton99
He's a -20 for his career. For a defensemen to be scored on that much, I'd pass. |

Plus / minus isn't underlying metric. Columbus has bad for 3 years. |

I think he’s a hot commodity tho. Plus minus can be deceiving
I think they want a first rder which I’m not sure I’d do that however |

If there is a comparable defensemen that has had a career of being a minus defensemen in their first 4 years, then became rock solid, I am open to seeing it.

For the record. Last time I was told someone sucked and was over the hill that person now leads all defensemen in pts - Slimtj100
Imagine the Rangers acquired him and gave him that huge contract. Where would that put Fox, Lindgren, Chytil, etc? We'd be screwed. |

Dallas probably can't afford him. next year. They would have to sign 6 other players with 5.1 million in cap space. - tomburton99
I just can't imagine they'd be interested in anyone else on SJ's roster.
Regardless, I have to assume the Islanders are the ones with much more motivation to land Meier (between those two teams, anyway) |

Guys like Dahlin give me hope for Laf. I know it’s completely different situation and position obviously. But he was pretty awful last few years and then he finally got it this year. Patience. I’m sure the Sabre fans wanted him sent out of town too at some point |

+/- is a terrible metric to judge anyone on. He's played on a dog sh it team with dog sh it goaltending and even more dog sh it scoring over the last four seasons |

I think its all relevant to the team he's on, take last year, he played 80 games and was a -3
Werenski played 68 games and was a -15
Boqvist played 52 games and was a -11
their goalies were terrible, both over 3 GAA
a -3 on that team was probably good |

What I am getting at and like others have said, Buffalo and Columbus are bad and have been bad for some time. Dahlin is an elite player compared to Gavrikov and still has had minus years until this year where he finally looks like an elite player.
Gavrikov could be a long term solution here, especially if they part ways with Lindgren at some point. |

Imo, Laf will never be a dynamic player like I think most people thought. I don't want the Rangers to get rid of him. I think he could be a good top six player. |

I know just busing some chops. But at the time, to be fair, I didn’t think he’d get THAT much. I don’t regret we don’t have him believe me. Just comparing Kane to him. These kinds of guys don’t lose it in one or two years |

I still think it is too early to tell. While he should have shown more flashes he has been completely blocked by veterans. We need to see him show something with Kreider down. I am starting to run out of optimism. |

I agree on that end. Once Karlsson inked that deal I was like: "Thank (frank)ing christ that wasn't the Rangers". |

shooting percentage 7.1% this year
after being 17% his first two years
he's also only had 247 shots on goal in 176 career games
he doesnt shoot enough
