It's just terrible that some folks want to win a Stanley Cup. I was 9 years old the last time they won. I know I'm a miserable person because as a life long Flyers fan. I'd like to see them win the Cup once in my adult life. Shame on me.

These people don’t care about building a winner.

Similar to the team, it’s more about being right. More about being able to say that they knew better.

They, and the team take such pride in being “different”.

McDavid? Matthews? Pick your star or “generational” player. McKinnon was the only #1 overall of the past 12 years to win a cup.
- Djapana

Yes, and the reason why those teams haven’t had success is because of McDavid or Matthews.

It’s just an excuse by those who refuse to do what is necessary to acquire high end talent, to make themselves feel better.

This fanbase deserves exactly what’s it’s had the last 10 years, and what’s to come.

Point fingers at management all you want as they are responsible for the lack of talent in some places on this roster. But if you aren't enjoying watching this team play then I don't know what to tell you.

Not only am I in a bad mood when they lose. I’m miserable when they go long stretches without winning.

Crosby Ovie Stamkos combined for what, 5 cups in the past 12 years ? All #1 overall, Patrick Kane, there’s another 3 cups lol

having players that can score 100 points a season is what prevents teams from winning cups
it's funny the mental games people play to justify teams with mediocre talent

Funny how it works. Complaining about the Flyers everyday makes one miserable, but complaining about other Flyers fans everyday doesn't.

I thought he meant that a player that was picked first in the last 15 years hasn’t won a cup (other than MacKinnon). Stamkos was the 2008 pick. 2008-2023…15 years

Just people, and more importantly the team trying to justify their beliefs.

It’s nonsense, lies, and nothing more. Used car salesman tactics.

The Flyers are very much an outlier in how they try to go about things, and have constantly been behind the times. It’s frustrating to see other teams evolve, the game evolve, and this team constantly with their hands in the sand.

Willingly stuck in hockey purgatory. Let’s all celebrate a few wins though. The lack of vision toward the big picture is alarming.

This team continues to do everything in its power to avoid a rebuild. Terrified to even whisper the word. It’s hilarious, and pathetic.

Why rebuild when you can continue to be a bubble team (at best) year after year?

Why lost to gain a so called advantage in the draft. We got Giroux at 22nd in 06, The players want to win, the players are playing for they're careers, next contracts, and pride. There is nothing wrong with winning, a lotto pic would be great but I'll take these unexpected wins any day.

Yeah, cause you know so much about building a winning hockey team! No wonder you like Hexy so much. Between you and him they might have a chance to win a Cup in say oh 10 to 20 years. Chumps!

i'm just hoping for karma. Before we were the worst team in the league and Chicago won the lottery and with it P. Kane. Would be nice if they were the worst this year and we could snake them.

That would be great. That particular draft lottery loss screwed us for a decade or more. Best case scenario this year is that we miss and move up the draft. It doesn’t look like we’re bad enough to have good odds. It’s A catch 22 here. I like seeing the kids progress and have success but we desperately need an influx of high end talent on ELC..

I missed their second cup by a year. Though I didn’t start watching hockey until 1985.
So 38 years and counting during my viewing years of zero cups, and I think it’ll be at least another 8 until they have a legit shot and being a realistic contender. God help us Flyers fans.

I get this argument and I would love the Flyers to get atop 4 pick in the upcoming draft. I agree the Flyers lack that elite “guy”, I just don’t think they are worse then at least 4 or 5 teams below them….so what becomes important.? If the Flyers can develop 6-8 young players on this team and have some of them really become solid to good NHL players then to me that’s as huge as getting anyone other then Bedard.
We have: Cates, Tippet, Allison Frost, York, Ersson, Laczynski that are Pup’s and are getting opportunities to develop and grow with the big club this year. If by the end of the year the Flyers are 20th or so that to me will be the result of some these kids stepping up and playing major roles with some success.
We have guys like Konecny, Farabee, Hart, Sanheim….for the Flyers to be good, these guys have to continue to show that this years play is what they are….although I think Farabee and Sanheim had slow starts, they both have elevated their play. A lot of there success of late is due to the “archaic” coaching they receive….guy are buying in. If you are simply hoping for Bedard or a top 4 pick this year you had better hope the lottery balls fall our way, because this team is getting better not worse.

I think there would be a lot less doom and gloom around here if Florida’s first round pick was for the 2023 draft not the 2024 draft. I am interested in knowing what JvR’s market value is for a guy who has an established role on any team and is actually playing well this season. I’m sure he won’t land us a first but I am hoping for two pieces. Nick foligno for example, who wasn’t very good for the Blue Jackets but still pulled a first round pick.

Yes. I don’t think that was ever in question. Read Djapana’s original post. He pointed out that McKinnon is the only player, who was picked #1 in the last 15 years, to be on a cup winning team. No one is saying that there hasn’t been a #1 pick on a Stanley cup team in the last 15 years.
