Flyers are certainly saving big on the TK contract right now.

It can work out, but it’s a gamble. Young player, seems to be progressing, but 7 years with money is still a risk for two half seasons in the NHL.

There is always risk in signing a young player to a deal like that. There isn't much of a middle contract in the NHL anymore. If you think he's going to be a really good player, with the cap, you have to make deals like that.

And because stupid flyers played hardball and (frank)ed themselves with that contract they will pay huge. He’s got what ? A couple years left? He’s gonna ask for 7/8 mil or more on next deal. Trade him now

Bridging him is risky too.

Minnesota also has that dead cap space for a few more years. What was he really going to make coming out of the bridge, you think Boldy is a $9M player in 3 years? I don’t

Maybe he blows up like Matt Tkachuk, who knows, he certainly has some talent. Looks like Guerin is protecting against that possibility.

Don’t listen to flyer fans. They don’t get it. They think coots deal was good.

Not all. If you backread, you will see Bill had to defend it.

Again archaic
What’s his bridge deal? A few years at 5/6 mil? How much you saving?

So say you bridge him and save the few mil then at around age 24/25 you give the big deal. You gonna lose those savings for sure. ( look at tk for example)

Then add in player would be entering 30’s and likely early 30’s and most likely past prime years.

Again look at tk

Players primes are now like 22-27 or so. The vast majority.

At least the players that matter. Obviously the stars are older before prime stops.

Just saying one guy over and over again doesn’t change the fact that there certainty risk to the deal, especially given their current cap scenario

Somewhat similar to signing Farabee for 6 years at age 21. I think Boldy has better upside but yeah there is always risk.

There’s risk to every deal. They are guaranteed contracts. There’s less risk doing deal early than late.
So yeah keep saying coots because hopefully that type deal NEVER done again( although I know Philly will because they never learn) and sanheim tk because those deals are actually a lot more risky. And likely to keep a team middling.

You also have to look at even if the player doesn’t completely out perform deal say he just about 7mil player in a few years the contract is still actually movable.

Look at skinner contract. No one taking that contract. That’s what happen when you come off these first couple deals and still kinda young and sign big deal.

And he has 2 years of trade protection! 😆 Many forget that, because it's so ridiculous.

Didn't the Bruins just get shutout at home by the Kraken?

Unreal it takes these expansion franchises about two weeks to build a better OrgIzation than the Flyers.
