And he has 2 years of trade protection! 😆 Many forget that, because it's so ridiculous.
- THE EVIL WITHIN

Guerin has some of that Fletcher old school thinking. He signed Nic at the TDL because he can fight and he’s great in the locker room. He scored in his 1st game but didn’t do much after that. The Blues made him look like a pylon in the playoffs.

Reaves was sitting on the Ranger bench so he requested a trade. Guerin signed hom because he can fight and he’s great in the room. He hasn’t fought yet, hasn’t been benched but can’t keep up with the two energy players on the 4th line. Poor roster deployment.

And that's the difference between the Flyers and an elite team. Management has a lot of work to do.

Actually a lot of his comments are amusing. Is he really wrong about how long some of the recent expansion teams take to become respectable? Mean while some organizations never seem to get there. I keep reading around this forum that it’s a 5-10 year process.

Just need to put a little more effort, hit more often, skate harder, and find some better leadership.
- FlyerFan3260

When there’s such a talent discrepancy….the focus has to be on exactly what Torts is trying to bring. It really does suck but that’s where this team has been lead.

Helps balance the lies we are fed about how good the direction the team has chosen.

He’s not attacking another poster.

I enjoy reading the posters comments.

The poster is pretty funny and accurate at the same time. Gallows humor in the current Flyers predicament. Think he’d fare pretty well as a stand up comic dissecting the Flyers.

Deslauriers is such an embarassment.
- Tomahawk

You didn't see the space he created out there for the other players? How the Bruins were afraid to take runs at Flyer players due to his presence? Isn't that what Fletcher and Tortorella told us?

Didn't the Bruins just get shutout at home by the Kraken?

Unreal it takes these expansion franchises about two weeks to build a better OrgIzation than the Flyers.

Reality check game. I don't even think that was the Bruins B game. They toyed with the Flyers.

Just saying one guy over and over again doesn’t change the fact that there certainty risk to the deal, especially given their current cap scenario

I'm in nerd mode, so I compiled a list of almost every player who's signed a 6+ year extension coming off an ELC:

Generally met/meeting contract value:

- McDavid
- Eichel
- OV
- RNH
- Nylander
- Ekblad
- Q. Hughes
- Kyrou
- Tarasenko
- Svechnikov
- J. Hughes
- Hischier
- E. Karlsson
- Rantanen
- MacKinnon
- Landeskog
- Makar
- Hall
- Hintz
- Heiskanen
- Marner
- Fox
- F. Forsberg
- McDonagh
- Kopitar
- Doughty
- Ehlers
- B. Tkachuk
- Chabot
- Toews
- Kane
- S. Jones
- Skinner
- Keller
- Schmaltz
- Hanifin

Exceeded/exceeding contract value:

- Scheifele
- K. Conner
- Josi
- Pastrnak
- S Theodore
- Draisaitl
- Horvat
- TK
- Slavin
- Pesce
- Seguin
- R Andersson
- Batherson
- Klingberg
- Tuch
- T. Thompson
- OEL

Mixed bag/debateable:

- Brodin (offense never materialized, but still one of best defenders in league)
- Monahan (injuries killed him for years)
- Farabee (inconsistent)
- Provorov (inconsistent, possibly stunted)
- Skjei (not quite as good as advertised)
- Eberle (good but overpaid)
- J Norris (injured to begin new contract)
- Ghost (inconsistent)
- Chychrun (injury-prone)
- S. Girard (inconsistent, injury-prone)

100% regrettable:
- Marino
- Drouin
- Dvorak
- Wennberg
- Zaitsev
- C Murphy

Teams seem to be pretty selective about when they hand these out, and they generally seem to get it right. And out of the ones who definitely were busts, their cap hits weren't debilitating.

Glad I had to work today. I thought the Flyers might have a chance in this one since the Bruins were coming off an emotional game on Saturday night. Silly me!!

Sounds like Tocchet is going to be the next coach in Vancouver and they are letting their current coach hang in the meantime. What a terribly run organization they are, but I'm sure Tocchet will turn it around.

Anyone that thinks this roster is fine is sadly mistaken. They really don't have a first or second line center on this team as currently constructed. The only reason they are near .500 is because they have a coaching staff that is getting the most out of this mostly putrid roster.

Sorry, my comment wasn't really directed at you. It was more directed at the guy that said some people on here think this roster is fine. I don't know of ANYONE on here that thinks this roster is fine, so I was essentially agreeing with you.

No worries. Wanted to make sure my comment wasn't misinterpreted. We've seen some growth from young players, which is all we can hope to see this year.

Down 2-0 after one but I actually thought the Flyers played ok in the first. Boston just made nice plays on their goals. Hart base sue nice saves and I thought Swayman was lucky to save that shot by Tippet. We’ll see how the rest of the game goes.
- jd250

What were you watching? Every pass the Flyers made was met with a Bruin witch
continued throughout the entire game. Outclassed the entire game. It could have been 20-0.

Notice how I worded my reply. It contained the word also at the end which implies that it's not only coaching but that coaching is a part of it.

You can reply in the manner you did here or you could actually offer some form of conversation and we can debate it.

That OEL contract looks bad tho. His last year in AZ was bad and he hasn’t really recovered.
