Haven't gotten too deep into but they're at $50m for next year right now.
$7 for Cozens
$3.5 for good guy Okie
$3 for new face off guy
$1.5 for new Pysyk
$800k for Johnson
That's a floor team - Hank Balling
Don't you think Tage, Cozens, Krebs, Jost is a near lock for next year?
They should really just move on from Kyle, and he has no business making 3.5m, but you're probably right. |

Holy (frank), they're really planning a 90 minute event tomorrow night? GR said it starts at 6 and puck drop is 7:30. |

Yup, Jost too. Making $2m this year so give him the bump for 1 year to take him to FA
It's very easy to make this a floor team while selling a vision of the future |

Better spend more than 1.5 on a Pysyk, cause there defense is a joke. |

Floor isn't even a thought with a Cozens extension in place.
Makes me wonder if they will be unnecessarily generous with their 4th line. Still think there's a good chance he retires and we don't have to worry about it.

roughly 19 mil off the books if they do not bring back okposo and girgens
also off the books would be coho, bishop, bjork, vinnie, anderson
if cozens signs for 7 mil, adding roughly 12.7 mi in tage, samuelsson, cozens
still gotta spend some cheddar |

50m on 15 players atm. Cozens @7m +7 guys at 1m average = 64m.
Napkin math, but floor looks like a non-issue to me.

Ryan Miller embodies everything it means to be a Sabre in the modern era: losing in the biggest moments and getting run over.
It only hurts because it's true. |

I stand by every word of it. There is no joy when I think of Miller. None. The great moments of those teams I associate with the offensive players. It's very hard for me to find great memories with Miller. I do not deny his greatness at all. It's just i think of him as such a crotchety old man who rarely seemed joyful. And, after black Monday or w/e day of the week it was this team was never a serious threat to win a cup again.
I'm curious to watch the video tomorrow and see what memories and feeling are stirred. As of right now my Mt. Rushmore of Ryan Miller memories:
Lucic runs him
Sid golden goal
Sid Ice bowl goal
Blows 2 - 1 lead in 3rd period of game 7
Tough. |

Krebs and Jost are playing good hockey. Especially Krebs who’s been yanked around all year. Jost will find his way to the Larry line and will get an upgrade from Girgs and Okposo. Krebs will be our 3rd line C |

Dach was a nice add by the Habs. Good news is, even if we don’t make the playoffs, we have some street cred now so players might want to play here |

They're not sending their TV crew to Chicago for a road game. I'm not holding my breath that they're going to add meaningful salary.
Would love to be wrong about that.
The new COO is a money guy, not a hockey guy.

I heard thru the grapevine, that the new COO is going to help with stadium repairs/ replacement.

Keep losing boys, you need a good chance at picking up Bedard since your coaching staff is doing a pretty shiddy job of teaching anyone to play defense. |

I dont see them waiving and replacing Comrie. I don't see them adding a top-6 forward (might not need one anyway), and if Johnson signs, they can easily fill out the d group with a Pysyk type.
Extend Cozens, Jost, Okposo.
Sign/trade for a faceoff bottom 6 guy and a depth D, plus Johnson. Cap compliant.
This isnt what I want them to do but I think it's what they will do. - Hank Balling
They might not need a top 6 forward?
I'm worn out by that line of thinking.
To be a top quality team, a strong top 9 is needed, not just a strong top 6.
Having another quality forward, if not two, would go a long ways.
Imagine Cozens with two higher quality wingers, and a third line with Peterka and Quinn.
The team would finally have secondary and even tertiary scoring.
I agree that they won't do much at forward though as they'll point to the 2024-2025 season and just say Savoie and Kulich. |
