That's a no for me..
The Leafs would have a really hard time replacing what Liljegren brings - PatC80

Liljegren is starting to become my favourite defenseman on the team. |

pass, really Doubt the leafs have interest
Let Ottawa make another mistake and trade for him, then extend him to a contract they will try to dump in 1.5 seasons from now - senstroll
Ya I don't think he would be an upgrade from Holl but adding another RHD has to at least warrant a conversation I guess.

Aren't the Leafs woes over the past couple of weeks the same as what has occurred over the past # of years?
As other teams start ratcheting up their defensive games for the playoffs - the Leafs' system gets exposed and they can't/won't change their system.
There's not 1 team in the league that has it's D-man pinching into corners trying maintain puck possession. The fact that the Leafs doubled down and gave Reilly the contract they is a boat anchor waiting to happen.
And for a team that focuses on puck possession their propensity to make blind high risk passes is comical.
Its like groundhog day.
As for the PP - the fact the Leafs haven't had any kind of a PP QB with some kind of a point shot that other teams need to respect is in Dufas. |

Can teams pay the fines for that stuff or does it have to come from coaches pocket? |

In January, the Leafs have:
Lost to St. Louis in OT
Lost to a hot Seattle team (yes, stinker)
Beat Detroit, while holding the Red Wings to one goal
Murdered Philadelphia, while holding them to two goals
Beat Nashville, holding them to one goal
Lost a game to Detroit (yeah, embarrassing)
Lost a very close game to Boston - a team that is on track to be the best team in the history of the NHL
Beat Florida.

Excellent question. From what I've read (I'm not an expert):
In the 80s, it was very common for teams to pay the fines for everyone.
They can't pay for players' fines anymore due to CBA, but for coaches, your guess is as good as mine.
Fun recollection: when Domi sucker-punched Ulfie Samuelsson, he was suspended and fined.
The rumour was that the Leaf players started making up a collection to pay for it, and that players from other teams contributed. |

Domi and Murphy...as suggested in the last blog.
Garikov and Jenner...as suggested in the last blog.
Josh Anderson or Pierre Luc Dubois on our team instead of against us would be nice too IMO.
And a big NO to trading Lily. Use Sandin, if one has to go, to upgrade LD side and then use Engvall, Kerfoot and/or Holl + to upgrade the right side and shed some salary.
GM'ing for Dummies right here folks.
Edit: A big NO for Horvath even if Lily isn't apart of a trade. Not what the Leafs need.

I agree, mostly because it was my post in the last blog and also because Horvat would cost too much and wouldn't be re-signed in Toronto

They were 4th overall last year and lost in 7 to the two-time defending champs who went on to the finals. |

Friedman on TJMS says a couple of teams told him it would probably cost a 2nd or 3rd RD pick for Jonathan Toews. Friedman does wonder if the Winnipeg Jets do it.
no idea how good Toews still is, but maybe the Sens 3rd they got for Murray...if hes still any good |

Mike Augello: The Perils Of The Five-Forward Power Play; Leafs vs. Jets - mikeinbuffalo
meh it’s ballsy i’ll give queeb that👍
perhaps innovative if they get rid of body bangin once and for all👍🏿
this strategy would work better if the team wasn’t full of millionaire prima donnas who need “maintenance days” every time they get a boo boo🤦♂️
i still think that he’s lost the room if he ever had it🤦🏿♂️
these little multimillionaires will play when they feel like it 🤦♂️
after the inevitable first round failure this year i hope that kylie hires trotz n tortz to replace him and queeb so that there will be some accountability from the pressbox down👍🏿
i think that shanny has been corrupted by money as well but who could blame any of them🤦♂️
what a (frank)ing joke🤦🏿♂️
edit:nice alliteration👍 |
