Here we go. Jesus did or was the following:
- Associated with prostitutes, poor, vagrants, etc
- Thought the rich were a-holes and debt was immoral
- Preached loving everyone
- Not white
Jesus did or was not:
- Even know what socialism or communism was because they did not exist
- Hate gay people, sexual deviants, etc
- Fear immigrants
- White
There's more in the bible about what you can and cannot do to your slaves than the other poop people focus on

Sorry, didn't mean to go there. My wife says that the vast majority, just like every other group, go about their business quietly not looking to get in everyone's face. It's the vocal minority that gets all the bad press.
Driving back north from Florida, I was astounded at all of the Jesus billboards on I-95, as if people don't know who he is by now.
My plan if I ever came into more money than I could use is to get a billboard that says, "Lord, Save Me From Your Followers."

Evangelicals make up a not insignificant portion of the middle of the country. Usually that vocal minority assessment is fairly accurate, though.
