It would be a bad idea unless you are talking only in advanced stats. Kane has outperformed Bergeron in most seasons the two have participated in together, Except for this one, and it's still close.

Bergeron is an advanced stats monster, but points also win games. Their +/- is pretty telling in that respect (bad stat I know). They are polar opposites and a team needs both types.

If you ask me who I wanted I take Bergeron right now. But in most cases/seasons I take Kane, for better or worse.

The advance metrics on Kane haven't always been bad either. Again, you give me this version of Patrick Kane, I'd be on board.

So no chance he could be that again on a good team. Ok 👍🏻

Just to be clear, I don't hate advanced stats. I just hate some of the people who like to vomit them on twitter.
- JRR1285

for someone to post them as a reason they think the Rangers wouldn't be interested in someone is ridiculous

I THINK the acquiring team ends up with at worst a poor mans version of this. At best they get the guy exactly as depicted on your chart. My worry is, what the (frank) does he have left to play for? He certainly seems to be the competitive type but he's already won EVERYTHING, multiple times in some cases.

Should look at the 2020-21 Blackhawks season if you think team success is that big of impact.

I'm all ears as to what defines a player being good or not using analytics. Please share yours.

there's never been a clearer case of advanced stats not mattering when it comes to a player as it would be if the Rangers are interested in Patrick Kane

but I know Tom will continue to say it, mainly because he knows its annoying

when Tom was banned for 3 years, his ban actually said "come back less annoying"

That's right. Because I purposefully tried to derail the blog. Go look back on this thread to see who broached the subject on Patrick Kane. Bet it wasn't me. You don't like my opinion, based on analytics about Patrick Kane. Fine. Report me.

And that's been problem for the Rangers. I won't bring up one trade that they were ignored in. But they were and it has not been great.

the one trade "they were ignored in" happened because they thought Kakko and Lafreniere would be better than they have been, they didnt trade Buchnevich because of analytics ether way

Ironically we can fix that by one simple trade

To clear cap space and use the cap space, and then some, on 4 players that were/are below average. So yeah it all comes to the analytics.

no, you mental midget

the Rangers made a decision not to sign Buchnveich long term because they had Panarin and Kreider already signed long term and then expected Kakko and Lafreneriere to be a lot better than they have been

but they made a bad trade

Tom is clearly going to be cynical about everything the Rangers ever do for the rest of time because of the Buchnevich trade
