I’ve never said anything in regards to Lappy correcting his play - ClaudeFather
A lot of people are making it sound like Torts set his entire career up for success by sending him down there.
IMO, up or down, York would have been fine either way. |

30 regular season NHL games easily trumps a few sub par pre-season games. It's larger sample size in more relevant games. - MJL
under a prior coaching staff. Why don't you acknowledge that as well. 2 diff coaches may want diff tings from said player no?

Of course not. I wasn't surprised he was sent down. It made sense at the time given the circumstances.
I just take issue with the narrative that Camp Lappy somehow sorted him out, and that he'd be a mess today if Torts hadn't handed him a bus ticket. - Tomahawk
“Camp Lappy,” that is very funny. But on your bigger point, I entirely agree. I think it just gave him time to sort some things out and get out of his own head a little bit. Given my historical position on his coaching abilities, I can’t really attribute any success to Camp Lappy. |

I agree on York. It seemed to me he felt he had a spot locked up and did not put the work in during the preseason. I believe Torts called it maturing.
I am fine with how he was handled.

York said he knew of Torts rep and was going out there afraid to make a mistake so he played it as safe as possible, which is not York's game. Torts said he wanted to see York assert himself more.
Seems to me Torts could have just as easily communicated this to him during the preseason instead of making up his mind based on a few practices and a preseason game or two.
IMO Torts was just being Torts. York would have been fine starting in the NHL.

flip side is if he struggled he then gets the Zamula treatment. Speaking of which wonder if he ever becomes a regular in the top 6. Or does he go the route of Myers.

IMO, York just had a couple of bad preseason games, I don't think he ever lost his confidence. He's always been low-key unflappable. - Tomahawk
Just from memory, it seemed York sagged to me. I am not saying starting in the NHL would have ended up any different. It could it would be the same, better or worse.
What is true to me, is York was better than the 6 the Flyers started

Yeah, with all the negative this year, it's nice to see the progress of York along with Tippett Frost and Ersson. Need to find a way to draft some top end talent and clear the cap but there are some gamers in the group we have.
About York, he seems like a kid that always works hard. I've read that he works out like a fiend in the offseason, so this doesn't shock me. It's no piece of cake learning to play D in the NHL on a poor squad. Kudos on this progress.. - Hextall271
Agree on York! Turning lemons into lemonade with this poor squad he's had to play for. Funny you his game would have always translated well to Torts system from the start. The kid got in his own head but I am more than happy with how fsr he has already developed. This kid has a lot of potential and a high ceiling
So far, he has been a solid choice of a draft pick |

You keep coming back to this nonsense about last year. It’s a young player, playing defense, just because he played well last year doesn’t mean he can’t have a stall or even step back in his progression. He was struggling this pre season, the correct call was made. You know who else looked good for half a season at a young age , Phil Myers. How’s he doing? - ClaudeFather
Myers....lol.
it has worked out so far for york. but let's make a mountain out of nothing. Guessing if he started with the flyers and struggled a little we would've ruined his development. So it would've been argued the wrong move by some people no matter what. Minus a career injury, name someone whose development was ruined by some AHL time. Now name some whose development suffered due to rushing to the NHL. Which list has more names?

At least he's cheaper than Deslauriers, and not signed for three more years. |

What is known, though, is he's doing well now. The rest of the argument is, well, tiresome to be kind.

What if the Flyers tanked at the TDL, TK and all traded, then they don't get Bedard, it would be fund to read this board...
another note, Faceoffs, you cant survive with the performance last night, its a possession league, starting without the puck, no Bueno |

all opinion, only truth is the current result, so hard to argue vs the process

not just about bedard. it is about a top 3 pick. Add that then whatever you get from the trades then maybe you have a foundation to build off of.

I agree with you on this but believe it or not, most analytic experts believe that statistically, faceoffs have little impact on possession.
