They absolutely have the pieces to go on a run. No one out there is having fun. Lucic needs to get off the second line. Huberdeau needs to be playing with offensive players. The goaltending needs to be just a bit better. If those things happen, the team would be in first, and the first three are really easy to fix.

But they're probably going to win 5-2 tonight with 3 goals from Ritchie and Lucic.

Honestly the Flames are my second favorite team, But i am also a realist. I was hoping for the Hawks to tear it down and re-build shortly after their last cup win. The writing was on the wall, But everyone wants to believe/dream, So we have teams stuck in "no man's land" Honestly not good enough to win it all. But good enough to slide into the wildcard spot and "possibly" make some noise.

Their GM did an admirable job of keeping them competitive, While at the same time totally FUBAR'ing any chance of a quicker successful re-build.

How does that change anything? It's still 2 division titles in four years.

If Huberdeau can have a Gaudreau-like bounce back in the second half, they have a great shot at the division again this year. They also have a bunch of key players who will be playing to get paid next year, so they should definitely be in the hunt again next year. No one in the Pacific, or really in the West, looks unbeatable in the near future.
