Pagnotta said the rangers are basically kicking the tires on everyone you hear. Whether Meier, Horvat, ROR, Tarasenko, Kane, etc

I think we have to mentally prepare for trade of futures because it seems inevitable they do something fairly significant, unlike last year when they did quantity over quality. To me Panarin needs a running mate. No one is working that great with him since Strome left, even Zib. Whoever they get needs to get him going, and vice versa, for us to win anything. He is making nearly 12 million bucks so it’s not something we can ignore really

Kind of absolves Strome from all the haters who said Bread makes “anyone” better.

Trocheck missed but he and Kreider have had more chemistry than Kreider and Zib have had this year. Last years duos not being the same is definitely a big part of any struggles they’ve had.

Everyone has chemistry to play with Kreider
- creates great screens, awesome at deflection and is crazy fast.

To everyone’s credit it’s only been me and aec really. It took patience just like it is with these other guys. It wasn’t like he didn’t suck tho lol it took him over 200 damn games I’m hearing the same things about Laf now. I hope we can keep all these guys and still make a move or two, because we are in the window to win

It’s not like were the only team. I’m wondering if these front offices are doing the same thing and the next ten days will be even more of a snooze fest

I think Laf will be a good hockey player- he will never play like a 1OA. We just have to temper the expectations we have put on him.

I think he’ll be a Claude Giroux clone if I could compare him to someone. If he’s still here by the time Kreider is about gone, Panarin even, he’ll be the man. He’ll get the PP1 spot and all. He’ll be a ppg player imo when all the right circumstances occur.

Remember this kid has all of I think 2 PP points in his 3 yr career. It’s nuts. But he hasn’t been in the driver seat for ice time like most 1OA are/get. That is an enormous factor when judging Laf so far imo that sometimes falls on deaf ears. At 5 on 5 he hasn’t been the best but that doesn’t mean it’ll always be like that.

He doesn’t have eye popping skills like you see from Hughes for example. Like I said - a good 200 foot player but not a franchise game changer that we all hoped for

And.. if he showed IOA talent out of the gate, he would be on the PP1 but he hasnt and hes not

Would you give Chytil 6 mil over 8 years?

There’s been a few others. The thing with Chytil that I always saw was his effort, always trying to do things with the puck, hustling, going to the bench after a bad shift and being upset with himself, battling along the boards etc, that’s y I always said with him, once he puts it all together he’s going to be a great player. I don’t see those same things with Laf yet. He’s “unnoticeable” in a lot of games where as Chytil I always notified him.

Fil has really grown into his body, he is a big kid. Kakko is going to be the same thing. LAF probably needs to get lower body strength over upper body.

Laf will get there, but I could see him the one traded because of the LW log jam. Whether that will bite us in the ass or not is certainly a possibility

This sort of thing is not my area of expertise, but if giving him 8 years, I would hope the AAV is lower. Below 5 even.

If he hits 30 goals, I dont think thats unreasonable number, but Id try to get it down to 5m per.

The way hes playing theres no way hes getting traded. Also, theres no way were gonna be able to resign anyone we trade for. If they dont bridge KAndre, hes probably gonna get a 5m x 8y contract.

Doing the math on capfriendly, lets say we resign Chytil and Miller to 5m deals. LAF gets the same contract as Kakko, 2.1m, and Cuylle stays a permanent fixture in the lineup. it leaves us with 4m in cap space to bring in 2 RWs and a goalie.

Almost every team is in the same salary cap pickle- It would be nice if the NHL addressed the issue. They are killing their own product.

If they didn’t trade for a rental, getting someone like Hartman for an extra year would be something to consider. Kind of like what the Bolts do, ie- Hagel, Goodrow, etc. maybe cost a bit but someone that is cost effective, but up in the lineup.

As this season goes along Kane loses it appeal to even me, because I realize we really can’t resign him. That was my favorite part of the deal tbh. That has been my hope along but it may not be in the cards

Everyone was waiting for the rangers to draft their first 80 plus point elite player. Kakko and Laf will be good, but no way that good

I think if we go big name rental, its Tarasenko.

With the deal Hartman has, Wild have 0 reason to trade him. Hes exactly the type of contract they need to have.

I know, just saying that kind of player. Duclair same thing. You’d have to pay a premium for it tho. Kravtsov really is the chink in the rangers armor right now, he is being relied upon to be the RW we need and yet he’s being scratched

I love Kakko’s possession game. He is becoming a Solid two way player-a beast.
