This is where he projects the Flyers' top prospects:
1. Gauthier: "I fully expect Gauthier to be an impactful NHL player and scorer. I’m not sure he’ll be a star..."
2. York: "...a potential top-four defenseman..."
3. Brink: "...a top-nine role..."
4. Foerster: "...a middle-six, well-rounded complementary scoring winger..."
5. Andrae: "...an NHL top-six."
- Tomahawk
How bad are these other team’s prospects of this is top half of the league |

most teams only have 3 or 4 guys that even project to be NHL caliber. |

Credit to Ristolainen for taking the coaching to heart and getting better. Though it is amazing and somewhat unlikely not one coach he has had in the past hasn't told him to do the same thing. Perhaps only Torts has had the balls to actually follow through on his threats to bench him if he didn't.

Has he really got better? Or does it appear he has with less minutes and lesser players?
Granted he def has cleaned up not going for the big dumb hit most times. I will say that.
Agree on the torts part. Though he did have Ted Nolan. but was better player then. |

Or.perhaps Ristolainen has just had a short spurt of offensive contributions. We'll see it continues. Lucky for the Flyers, they now have a 5M a year 3rd pair defenseman that they gave up two high picks and a player for. I bet if they send him to the AHL, he"d be really good down there.

3. Brink: "...a top-nine role..." ...."in the near future and a top-six one in the prime of his career."
Just adding for context.
Overall there is some talent there. The kind of talent you need on a contender. But what we can all agree on is that they lack those true top of the lineup first line/first pair players in the system. As long as they have to go the FA route to get those types they will never truly be a great team. - MBFlyerfan
And, thus, more mediocrity.
It seems some are happy about the farm system that is coming, though
I wish I shared those some feelings |

Lesser opponents? He starts the PK against power players. He’s also asked to play next to Ivan Provorov when holding leads in a game. Other teams are likely to bring their very best players in those situations. Not to mention match ups on the road, if a team gets first change. |

He is also a little older and wiser. Maybe he has seen his game slip and like you said, actually taking the advice of the coach. Goijg from the top Dman on your team to taking pay cut om his recent deal, then getting benched and demoted, he may finally realize he needs help. Whatever the reason, it's good to see even RR progress his game under Torts.
I know people here hate Torts but he has been a breath of fresh air to this team, especially to the younger kids. RR is older but Torts has sole type of effect in what he does
I'm impressed by Torts so far. I was team tank but I'd take the dwvelopment of these kids over a chance at a top pick. I didn't expect Torts to do so well so soon, even though the bar was very low before he got here

Nashville really messed up with that choice. I wish the flyers would have gone after him. I'm in Nashville so I follow the team and he has always been a player that I liked. I think Hynes system didn't allow him to play his game... it sounds very flyers-ish, huh? |

I still hate that trade and the new contract that they gave that guy but we are stuck with him. I hope he continues to regain some form so we can flip him for a 4th rd pick...eventually |

What about the rest of the game?
he plays against lesser competition overall. That is a fact.

nah waste a claim on Sedlak, maxed out at 50 contracts. Chuck knows what he is doing.
He is the exact type you take a chance with if your in the flyers position.

I agree 100%
But feltcher has us maxed out on players with absolutely zero potential so we miss out on a free pick up like tolvy.
He is a situation like frost almost was. I knew tolvy would be good but he needed a change of scenery and other opportunity.
That would have been frost if he didn't do well this season |
