I like the idea of Meier on this team. A winger that scores and hits would be huge. We have far more assets than roster spots. If you can make this trade without disrupting the vibe(and the future cap), I think you do it. That being said, I'd much rather see the Sabres find themselves a physical shutdown defenseman. - SoCalPucks
If that physical shutdown defenseman cannot keep up with the pace of play or is not a good enough skater to cover up for their defense partner's aggressiveness, he'll be a big disappointment and a bad fit. |

I for some reason recall Bryson being benched very recently. It was during December that he was benched often for Clague. I think he's only missed a game maybe 2 this month. - TheSabresTaco
I believe it was just the one game before Clague came out. Bryson was injured in December, don't think he was ever a healthy scratch back then.

Clague deserves to play more on merit. The love and loyalty they show to certain players at the bottom of the lineup is odd. - Lunaion

Is MSG next, or are the Knicks still too much of a cash cow?
The Devils, Sabres and Rangers sure aren't. - buffalofan19
The Sabres have excellent ratings, i would guess the Rangers do too.
I have wanted the Sabres to leave MSG for years and years, as I think they treat us like poop. I think the current Sabres/MSG deal goes until 2025.

I don't think it's a Bryson over Clague issue. It's who needs a defensive partner tonight. I don't think they want Clague and Boosh over Bryson and Boosh for whatever reason. |

Meier :
Rosen OR a 2023 protected 1st , turns into a 2024
2023 2nd rounder, take your pick
3rd rounder 2024
I heard they are looking for 1,2 and a 3.
Not sure if its %100 accurate.
KA could turn the risto trade (rosen and 2nd) plus a 3rd into meier......
Keep the current team intact - Boss34
this lines up with the Cat trade so I'm going to bet it's very similar.
Fiala got a mid 1st rounder and Brock Faber. Faber is viewed as a future top 4D.
Sabres offering a protected 1st and Rosen is pretty even value from both the Fiala and Debrincat trades.

For those of you who live in the fantasy world of thinking that Timo Meier could be gotten for a bag of pucks please read this article that describes the type of trade package the Sabres would need to offer in order to complete the trade. Though I think that the writer is offering more than then Sharks are asking for you might want to take a chair if you are one of the ones who have arrogantly made any of the idiotic trade package proposals I have read here:

Interesting point. Clague plays a lot more in the top 4 than on the 3rd pair with anyone.

I think PSE is rich enough to attempt their own regional sports network. There should be enough content at this point.
Bills pre and post
Sabres games
Bisons games
Local college sports (including Bonnies basketball)
WGR550 simulcast
Production of Buffalo sports history programs to include Bills, Braves, Sabres, Bisons, and anything else related.
Paul in Buffalo on the overnights hosting a call in show "Pucks, politics, and the paranormal"
It would take a lot of financial backing and expertise, but the Pegulas have the one and know the people with the other. |

In an era where media stations are consolidating or going out of business, there is absolutely no chance of them starting a regional network. I think the fact that they had so many failures outside of their core business makes it even more than unlikely.

Isn't this the most likely answer?
Lyubushkin - 2 years @ $2.75M per
Bryson - 2 years @ $1.85M per
Clague - 1 year @ $750K |

I don't know. Seems like the Pegulas overextended and are cutting back. I know at least some of the regional networks are struggling financially right now. Not a great time to jump into the Cable TV market. |

Some of them. And then there are regional sports networks that are worth as much as teams or more so, like the YES network or SNY. Those Bally's networks all cover teams in markets that don't care about watching them on TV.
The Sabres rating number is a massive share of the WNY market guranteed 82 times a year. It's a built in advatage any network has when they get the Sabres. It's why MSG loves to sign longterm deals with tiny old Buffalo. They make a killing on us and give us the least resources for our games possible. |

It's definitely above my head to figure out the monies vis a vis cable against a streaming platform, but that doesn't mean the Sabres need be locked into a partner who doesn't treat them great. |

Hell, if I were a young ESPN exec, I might be brainstorming ESPN Buffalo right now with my team to see if that's viable somehow. |
