Scenario two.
Horvat signs long term. Sororkin tweaks something and misses the next 6 weeks. Isles finish bottom 10 win the lottery and give the Canucks the 24 1st 🤣🤣 - Vukota
I’ll take option two. |

I dont think you can rate this deal until an extension is or isn't signed. If it's true he has rejected a 7yr x 8M contract offered by Van and it actually takes more than that, it's probably a small loss. If he signs a 8yr x 7M it's a small win. A 7x7 is probably a good win. If he walks it's a massive loss. Also how the season unfolds will determine who wins. Too early to tell. Horvat is a good player, but not elite. Been playing over his head in his contract year is no surprise. Can his scoring continue in future seasons? We'll have to wait to see who ultimately wins this one. |

I think this year is good for both teams.
You guys will live Horvat, plays with heart on both sides of the ice, great on the draw, big body with a heavy shot.
Bea was a cap dump
Don't know much about ratty but he's a center prospect who's probably better then any we have in the system and the 1st is key.
All together I think this is a solid trade. |

What can we trade?
Edit: in the next couple of weeks. - Cptmjl
The team now has 5 centers. It can move a center if need be.

This might be a stretch but what if LOU turns around and moves Horvat? It’s a long shot but it would be nice to see him package Horvat with another cap dump like Bailey if possible. Bailey and Beau only have one season left on cap hit.

Does this move smell of desperation? Maybe...
But Lou replaced AB with a inconsistent finisher. The delta in age is 2 years. The cost was a 1st and Ratuy.
The only thing I am a little disappointed in is giving up Ratuy. However, while he has shown upside at a young age. He is an unknown.
So Lou acquired a proven scorer for a inconsistent forward, an unproven prospect, and a 1st round unknown (protected if the isles drop below 12) draft pick. The only real knock when you break it down is he is a center not a winger.
Personally , I like the move. You move Barzal to the wing. It lessens his defensive role where he is not strong to begin with. You allow him to be free on the wing to utilize his speed. You have a natural veteran center in Horvat that can strengthen the middle. Faceoffs Horvat is 56% verses Barzal 42%.
Parise Horvat Barzal
Lee Nelson Palms
Bailey JGP Halstrom

that doesnt seem likely to me
I think Lou probably feels this team is just as good as Washington, Pittsburgh or Buffalo and home playoff dates at UBS arena are much more likely today

The more I think about it the more I believe Lou is doing whatever it takes to resign horvat. They have to know he wants a long term deal and already believe he's worth it |

Yeah 100%. I just think it’s nuts that he went into it without a contract in place according to Horvat and the Islanders. Lou doesn’t mind rolling the dice but to me it weakens our negotiating power. His agent knows Lou has to get him signed at all costs. We’ll see what he gets him locked up too. I think it gets done before the end of the Allstar break. |

Bo is in a very good spot for sure. Hopefully Bo and Barzal click like Bo and Luke.

I would keep Barzal at center cause he is the better play maker and just have Horvat take all the face offs in both ends .
C - RW - LW
Barzal Bailey Horvat
Nelson Palmieri Lee
Pague Holstrom Parise
Cizikas Fasching Martin
Hopefully Wahlstrom is back soon |

Canucks wouldn't let anyone talk extension as they said it gives the player and agent too much leverage |

May make more sense. Horvat isn’t afraid to shoot. They better figure out what works real quick. |

Both teams lost this deal, kind of.
I don't hate the return for Vancouver, especially if they flip Beauvillier but that doesn't sound like what they're going to do.
I do not understand why the Isles did this. Even if you extend Horvat that doesn't do anything about the fact that this is a bubble team that's pretty old, pretty expensive, and has very little flexibility to improve next season. |
