I don't understand where this notion comes from that Bo Horvat is apparently some sort of high-end sniper. Yes, he's having a phenomenal year...but he's got precisely 1 other year where he eclipsed 30 goals. His shooting % is 21.7 this year, which is 50% higher than his career shooting percentage of 14%. Maybe the magic continues with the Islanders for the rest of the season, but massive jumps in shooting percentage at this age are the exception, not the norm. Expecting him to continue shooting at 21% is a fool's errand. - eichiefs9
So he's probably a 20 25 goal scorer that's great on draws. I expect another move

25-30 depending on games played. look at his last 5 years. that's consistent. This year is far ahead of that, but he's a 30 goal guy and we desperately need that.
nitpicking - these stats the last 5 years are more indicative of a 30 goal scorer. a consistent one. How many of these have we had? He can score in the shootout, he goes to the front of the net and plays hard and physical. We lost a guy who disappears every year for huge stretches, a prospect that I like, but is not a top line player and a 1st that is protected if this doesn't work out.

To be clear, I am not implying that Horvat isn't a very good player. I'm happy we have him, I just see a handful of people implying we acquired some sort of pure goal scorer and I don't think that's the case.
These are his career S%, by season. The number in bold on the bottom is his career average. One of them is very much unlikely the others:

Especially if he gets to play with Barzal. No reason why he can't at least hit 30 a year moving forward.

He is compared to most of the forwards on the roster

50 goals is not going to be his norm going forward, nor is the 21% shooting percentage. 30 goals is realistic and very consistent with his career so far depending on games played. That's what i'm looking at. I'm not basing it on this year.
in this league - 30 goals IS a consistent goal scorer and he is a shooter and not a playmaker.

I don't honestly know what else of value they have that can be moved for anyone worthwhile. Maybe Wahlstrom had value, but he sure doesn't right now. Maybe Bolduc is in play, but I'm not sure what Bolduc and a 2nd round pick gets you.

In many ways he’s very Nelson-esque. Over an 82 game span, we can reasonably expect him to pot 30-30-60 per season. He does tend to wanna shoot first, so that should blend well with Barzal. I’d imagine Horvat will “technically” be Barzal’s LW, but will take the majority of the draws. Much like Tkachuk does for Stützle.

if not then Id like to see horvat extended and some guys moved out after the season, Baily being at the top of the list. I get the feeling that wont happen sadly

I'd do anything to get rid of Bailey, short of having to move additional assets to get someone to take him. I'd trade him for a soiled diaper and four rusty screws.

There’s no damned way he’d get you that many screws.
