remember Lou moved Ladd so baily should be a cakewalk, didnt he also move Clarksons deal? - Upstate_isles
Yeah but they had to send what is likely to be three draft picks along with Ladd to get Arizona to take him. Second rounders in '21 and '22 and this year's third rounder gets transferred to Arizona if Ladd a) doesn't play any games in the 2022-23 season (he hasn't played any yet this year) and b) does not retire prior to the end of the 2022-23 season (which he's definitely not going to do) |

I had heard Walhstrom was gonna be out long term.
Anyone know why he wouldn't be put on LTIR sooner if true?
Doesn't that save more cap space?
Friggin cap is impossible to figure out. |

Give Lou a little credit. Just because he only says nice things about him and his high hockey IQ, don't draw any conclusions from that. Bailey would be gone already, if Lou didn't care about throwing away more assets to make it happen. |

Putting him on the LTIR would be worse (albeit only slightly) for them, they'd stop accruing cap space in the amount of Wahlstrom's cap hit which would leave them with less space at the deadline than they would by just leaving him on regular IR.
LTIR only lets you exceed the cap in the amount that the injured player's cap hit would put you over it. The very, very simplified and incomplete/not totally accurate way to describe it is:
Say the cap ceiling is $100. Your team has $99 in payroll and a player making $5 gets hurt and is out for the year. You put him on LTIR and you can now exceed that $100 cap upper limit by $4 |

A stud center who does everything for a protected 1st a 3rd liner and a good prospect. Works for me. Lou just has to lock him up. I’ll worry about the major rebuild in 4-5 years. Right now I’m hoping they add something else significant either in the next couple of weeks or over the summer. - Vukota

He should have been moved last year. Don't underestimate his staying power. Josh Bailey and cochroaches are all that will exist someday |
