I’m still an Aatu Raty believer through all the stuff that’s been said. He’s documented as having struggles managing his expectations of himself over this season, and I just came away thinking this was a great player who was locked behind mental limitations. The ol’ “gripping your stick too hard” thing… His offensive transition game is better than the Liiga Finns I tracked last year, and was a huge driver of shot attempts for his team without much support. I think that the right team could hit a home run with this player if you just get on his level and get him reset.

The fact he jumps to the top of the prospect pool says a lot.
Young
His skating can be fixed.
Still a prospect though, albeit a good one.

Makes sense, family wise.
According to Friedman the Flames may be in on Luke Schenn. - VanHockeyGuy
It’s strange this hasn’t been done. The price should be a second round pick. Schenn wants it done asap |

When you gave up first round picks back to back years and how many 2nd round picks. It's not all that hard.
Really if he doesn't fall and some were right, he would have been picked around the same area as Lekkerimaki and is 20 months older.
He was picked behind Klimovich and this season in the AHL have a .56 and .55 ppg.
Klimovich has not played NHL games but is also getting almost no PP time and is listed as 4th line in Abbotsford.
Somewhat comparable, that would mean either Raty isn't going to be as great as the shiny new toy syndrome would seem or the entire Canucks prospect pool is better than many think. |

As much as I like Schenn it's a good trade for a 2nd, CAL will probably want to extend him.

Hope it is, that would suggest they know what they're doing.
Let's wait another couple of years, again. |

Canucks top 10 rankings doesn't have anyone putting up junior numbers.
The Jr scorers Lockhart, Kudryavtsev, Gardner don't make the top 10.
A lot of other teams would have those guys inside the top 10. Everybody knows the jump is huge but they look better because they are dominating a junior league. |

Buying a new bmw outright is a pretty bold move lol.
I know a guy who used to run the Langley dealership. He said pretty much all their new car sales were leases and only the used cars would actually be bought outright/financed.

I think you guys got a nice one in Raty. Only negative thing I saw in the short glimpse was his skating. Once he improves that sky is the limit. I was also pleasantly surprised by his physical play. Definitely not afraid to finish a check. - Vukota
Bo had same issue about skating and now has a powerful stride with speed. I am curious this trade seemed to be similar offer for JTM prior to Canuck’ extending. Would you have preferred him? |

My personal mechanic tells me to stay away from all things BMW now. Quality levels in build and fit n' finish have dwindled and outside of any 'warranty' you may have parts and service now are out of control high priced. I'm in the market for a new sport Sedan so will be staying away from BMW. Some very nice cars however depending on the years and styles/reliability. |

Thanks for the blog Trevor, and about adding fighters is an interesting twist. With the worst PK in the league it would be a great tank job next season.
As for the trade front not happy about it. The D never gets addressed and drafting seems always to miss. |
