Isn't this kind of unfair because there was the potential to sign Horvat for less than he got in NY, but the team low-balled him?
- NorthNuck

They probably could have gotten him for around 7m in the off season if they took the 7.8 he wanted and negotiated it down. He's worth that much. Then get rid of Miller. But I like the return we got.

I didn't make the poll. That was Rick D.

If Bo was gonna sign for less, he would have.

Same, I'm content with what they got for him and I'm okay moving on to EP as captain over the next year or so.

Horvat would have signed for 7m last year and we could have traded Miller for a better package so it is a total fail

Totally disagree. The team was offering him 6-6.5 as their best offer. He would have stayed in Van for a little over 7.

The violent crime rate there(by capita) is insane. Overrun by drug addicts and First Nations gangs shooting each other broad daylight at public venues etc.... hard to find anyone there who isn't a victim of theft. Population is only around 25k... it's disgusting.

Quesnel was way better 15 years ago but Prince George and Williams Lake gangs have now turned it into New Williams Lake BC. Not much different. I was happy to bail on Qtown even though I lived just outside of town.

We used to go to Stampede years ago, it was like a Quentin Tarantino movie

I must admit I had a blast though.

I am glad we avoided that 8 year contract. Too bad they gave 7 to JTM.

I was hoping for them to move Miller and Boeser to create cap space and bring in picks and pieces. They (frank)ed up bad.

Pressure to compete from Ownership will do that. Hopefully now they start fixing some of those (frank)ups

Yes, after he was already on 60 goal pace. If they offered that in the summer he takes it no question.

Too early to say that. I know people want change but the fact is we won't know the result of the trade for years to come.

Thats how every single trade is involving futures. The fact that we got a prospect currently ranked between 40-70, depending on which top prospects list you look at, in the top 100 prospects and a 2023 (most likely) 1st is a good return. Add that Beau can probably get us a 2nd at next years TDL (if management is smart enough to deal him) makes it a home run. It is pretty much 2 1sts and a 2nd for Bo.

Before Miller I would think yes. But without this years numbers would he have been thought to be worth that much?

A 1st round pick, prospect and top 6 player is a good return for a UFA that was not going to re-sign here (Of course, how they turn out is TBD).

Change was definitely needed and resigning the same core for more money would have been nonsensical.

See Miller, Jonathan Tonathan.

I doubt it. They are still in the same mode... just traded a piece that they couldn't afford is all... but as we know they wanted to keep Bo even after signing Miller, Boeser and bringing in Mikheyev. Even after it was obvious they over estimated this team and the playoffs were not realistic, they still tried to sign Bo.

People think the team has switched gears and are going to rebuild. Sorry to say when you slow down on the fantasy and look for what this management has been trying to do, it shows a complete opposite agenda.

You are counting on a lot of what ifs.

First of all I won't credit this management as being smart enough. They have doen nothing to earn that yet.

So far Raty has looked very average and yes, it is only two games. Let's wait and see how he does by the end of the year.

As far as having another mid range first round pick, there is nothing except D Petey that I likes about Canucks draft this year.

Like I said wait and see.
