Another top notch album that most don't know exists. So much pain in that project between all the band members and their addictions.
Now you got me listening to Mindcrime at this moment...

- carsonagenic

Another outstanding album I think I have three copies of it lol.

Always reminds me a bit of Mother Love Bone's 'Apple' which is also killer for that time and a top effort. But get's lost in the top bands of that era.

I'm going to pull this out of the catalog and spin it thx much for the reminder.

TBH, don’t know a lot about the band. Over the years you just hear stories like how Tate was an absolute bumhole. I don’t know if that’s true or not but that’s what I would hear. What’s it with lead singers? It’s crazy how many great bands were destroyed by their lead singers. Amazing.
- bloatedmosquito

Truly one of the best bands and talented of the 80's metal era.

Too bad Tate turned into a bit of a goof but the whole band was to balme for that crap and infighting.

The Warning, Rage for Order, Operation MindCrime and Empire hold up to anything of that era. Even the top 4 Metallica, Maiden, Priest albums which are considered the best that decade had to offer. Give them a listen they are very addictive and Tate at his peak could hit 5-6 octaves. Insanely good stuff.

Empire is a great album, way more polished, and incredible recording. if you want to test out a new stereo or speakers before buying, play "One and Only" and you will hear the quality. But Empire doesn't have the edginess or writing that Mindcrime has, especially since it is not a concept album like MC. It is like adult contemporary Queensryche for the sophisticated palette of metal listening.
- carsonagenic

100% correct great assessment. One could even argue Rage for Order had the inner workings of Mindcrime in it just not the whole story angle that MC had. RFO has a special place for me as that was my first introduction to the band and on some days I prefer to Mindcrime. But front to back Mindcrime was their masterpiece never to be topped. I have the DCC gold remastered version of Empire and it kills all other versions including the vinyl ones. It's out of print now and worth well over $300 if you can ever find the CD.

lol that's a horrible comparison but ok. They sound nothing alike. Too bad you are missing out on 4 excellent albums that helped define 80's metal.

The EPL is fucking brutal:

The Premier League has said dealing with "tragedy chanting" has become a "matter of urgency" after Leeds United's clash with Manchester United at Elland Road was marred by rival supporters taunting each other with songs about tragic loss of life involving the two clubs.

Both clubs issued a joint statement at the end of United's 2-0 win to condemn the chanting, which related to Leeds fans making aeroplane gestures and singing songs about the 1958 Munich air crash that killed 23 people, including eight of United's legendary Busby Babes team.

United fans responded by chanting "Istanbul" -- a reference to two Leeds supporters being stabbed to death in the Turkish city prior to a UEFA Cup semifinal against Galatasaray in April 2000.

"Both clubs strongly condemn chanting from both sets of fans regarding historic tragedies at today's game," the joint statement said.

"Such behaviour is completely unacceptable and we will continue to work together with our respective fan groups and the Premier League and other authorities on eradicating it from football."

In addition to the statement issued by both clubs, the Premier League added its condemnation.

"The Premier League condemns the chanting heard during today's match between Leeds United and Manchester United," it said.

"The League is treating the issue of tragedy chanting as a priority and as a matter of urgency."

Fixtures between Leeds and United have a long-standing history of trouble between supporters, with the animosity between both stretching back to the 1960s.

But in addition to the chanting at Elland Road, recent Premier League fixtures involving Liverpool have resulted in rival supporters singing songs about the Hillsborough disaster, when 97 Liverpool died in a crush at the 1989 FA Cup semifinal against Nottingham Forest at Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough stadium.

Yeah, but many of us were turned off my glam/hair metal in the 80s because much of it is very repetitive, soulless fluff. All show, no substance. I think that sound was overplayed to the detriment of some quality bands. Plus, the onslaught of metal ballads drove me crazy.

80s metal was fun for awhile but it got old and died for good reason.

All true up to a point. In between all the processed 'hair metal' and Arena Rock stuff and power ballads what have you there were great bands lost in the mix. It needed to die sure, but there is also a very good reason that Maiden Priest Metallica Ozzy Dio and a host of others are more popular than ever now. The music has, and always will, speak for itself.

I was lucky to be a teenager then and was never into alcohol until after I was done with Sports in my early 20's. Very fortunate to have experienced the best decade music had to offer with well over 300 concerts attended.

Dude...how did you not have this record before? Top 5 Heavy Metal albums all-time period. The Capitol 180g reissue sounds kind of crappy compared to the newly remastered CD. Did you find an original pressing? Such a great, groundbreaking album...

- LordHumungous

This is the most recent re-issue, not the Capitol. I don't mind it considering what they had to work with mix wise. I couldn't find it until this point without amazon or overpaying a collector. Which is why I didn't have it.

Ah ok good. The Capitol reissue sucks. Out of all the versions I have the most recent CD deluxe edition is the best sounding version IMO. Tons of dynamic range and they got the bass right.

What would an album of failing for a half century despite trying be? Ahhh hell might as well make it a full century as we’re 10-15 years away from being an annual playoff team again.

Yeah, that's exactly what impressed me about listening to the album. The volume shifts and the feel. I think there were 2 songs, I can't remember which, but the mixes got a bit muddy in certain sections. The rest of it was a treat.

Mad Season is the Music on Vinyl deluxe reissue. It's amazing. They basically added an EP onto the original ending. Locomotive is so much better in analog. Last night was the first time I heard it that way.

Anyways, I'm with you. With the way they destroy QB's, I've got Philly. Mahomes will be lucky to make it out of the first quarter without medical assistance.

I was thinking along the lines of Mariah Carey.

You know, something that keeps existing, doing the exact same thing over and over and over again without ever evolving, yet continue to be popular while making obscene amounts of money.
