What. A. Game.

That was a top five regular season game that I’ve been to live. The game had everything. Nice goals, huge hits, fights, and of course most importantly a NYR win

Chytil is something else. He needs to be bumped up to PP1 and extended ASAP. also, the kid line should never be touched again. Panarin had a bumpy game. Beautiful pass to Zib for his second goal but some bad giveaways and blown coverage on the kicked goal. Trouba played like an absolute savage. Advanced stat nerds can’t put a value on what he brings to this team. That PP goal at the end of the second was directly caused by his hit on Kadri and drawing the instigator on Dube. And it had the garden buzzing

Halak played well enough to win. Let in a softee from the point, but made some key saves when they mattered most.

I also got to sit next to the Fox family which was pretty cool 👍

eventually we will be rumoured to have been after every single player on Chicago

be funny if they acquired that "Happy to see you" guy because he hates Trouba

I think getting another center wouldn’t be the worst idea. Jake is meh watching every game. Like Harpur, they need to be the 13th F - 7th D for them

But these are good team problems

its definitely a good idea to use these remaining games before the deadline to audition these guys and see what we have, the people complaining that Blais was dressed yesterday are just asinine

Blais looking a hell of a lot better last night. And anyone who puts a lick on Lucic like that gets extra leniency from me!

they are still trying to figure out what this 4th line is, that's what these games are for

Halak being at the bottom of that Game Stat card is absolutely not helping your case around here.
That's ludicrous.

Regarding the game. Kid line, pretty good. Panarin was good aside, from the penalty. That passing play on the PP where Zib scored, pretty great. What can you say about Trouba that wasn't already said. Though his game was great for the most part. Blais was physically engaged. So that was nice to see. The Refs did a great job.. until they decided that Mangiapane goal wasn't a kick. Lucic is still a Neanderthal.

Idk. I thought the 1st and 4th goals we're pretty terrible.

Went unsaid here I think, but the save Markstrom on Zib right the Laf goal was ridiculous

I think thats why Markstrom went apepoop. He got a ten minute gross misconduct for that haha. He’s lucky the stick didn’t fly into the ref

Halak was fine I thought. Stone shot looked like a screen.

1st goal was not good, I'll give you that. But, it's a poopty bounce that goes in quite a bit more than you'd think, given the design of goalie pads today. I think it got hit by the very top part of his left pad and straight back through when he tried to close his legs.
I disagree on the 4th goal. It doesn't look like much, but 97mph shots don't happen all that often during a game. And, there was a Flame player crossing right through Halak's vision as it went off and under his arm. Again, I think that goal happens against many tenders in that situation, unless it hits them directly.
Aside from those tough ones, I thought he was nicely focused and positionally sound.

Yep.
Hell of a block on Chytil's rebound chance, too. Thought he had the hatty there!!

and a brutal turnover on the first goal. he seemed to grow into the game as it got going, probably too much time on south beach.

the only thing can ask for when Halak plays is that he gets the job done, and he did last night, but I think he always gives up at least one bad goal

Im sure he'll play vs Seattle on Friday and then against Calgary again on 2/18

The Flames forward did screen him slightly on the 4th goal. But it still went through him, they showed a slow mo replay on the broadcast last night. Of the two goalies I thought Markstromm was clearly the better of the two. (I was pissed at the 4th goal in real time last night. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.)

Yeah. And terrible judgement on the too many men penalty. He jumped on the ice and went straight at the puck without a thought to where his teammate was.

To be fair, that was his first bad game in like a month. And they still won. So all's well that ends well.

Hopefully it gets him going now. You could tell how big a goal that was for his psyche. And to a man the whole team was just as happy for him

I still can't get over the Trouba-Kadri hit. I expelled an audible "oh my god" when I heard the sound of that hit through my tv.
