If I'm NYR Tank is a rental and it cost me a late 1st and a 2024 3rd for a legit top 6 winger and a realistic shot at going deep in the playoffs. Big upgrade to the top 6 replacing guys like Jimmy Vesey, who's been skating top 6, and it also strengthens the bottom 6 allowing guys like Vesey to be slotted properly.
Also cheaper than Kane's cap hit and without the worry if he's healthy or not. - Mr Ricochet
Agreed There one stop shopping got them a nice defender and a guy that they rest can feed the puck to.
All for just one of the firsts the late one at slot 31and a 2024 3rd.
With one decisive quick swoop St. Louis adds a late first rounder which could be a really promising defender like Theo Lindstein who is a work in progress.
They COULD win the lottery with their other early pick or settle into Colby Barlow or Dabor Dvorsky.
I am glad that this last weekend the two Athletic talking heads brought into the Kane bullpoop about surveying the field...I guess the "Field" just got a sinkhole.

I wonder if NYR passing him up and trading for Tank will light a fire under Kane's rear end? Maybe even expand the list of teams he's willing to go to for fear of missing out on a chance to make a run for the cup? - Mr Ricochet
By Tank you mean Tarasenko? More like Stank.
Light a fire?
He needs to light one under his own ass, as he has 10 goals 19 assists and a minues -18 that you cannot blame on Jordan Binnington.
And remember this player has whined for a trade for seasons now, b/c he wasn't made the captain.
I guess now he is on a clean slate.
Will the Rangers re-sign him?
Probably or he just goes away looking for $ and the trade gets judged by if they win the Cup for late first and future 3rd, a small price if, they do.
“This is something we’ve been looking at for a while,” Drury said on a conference call. “We didn’t really see any reason to wait. We’re excited to be able to do it now and get them in the lineup tomorrow.” |

If Toews' immune deficiency and Kane's body are roadblocks in trading them, just pull the out of the line-up.
Make them "Hawk Legacy Legends" walking around during the game signing autographs.
A fitting exit with all the ticket buyers get to say thank you and goodbye.
I don't care about the the picks, just the game outcomes.
Besides a string of buffalo wins and a few band-aids and the both of them and stack can be in Buffalo |

Is it time to say a rookie General Manager and a kingmaker agent simply dropped their sticks and couldn't handle the puck task in front of them?
I love that the Athletics two talking hawk heads are saying all is not lost there are plenty of options...I love working the narrative as well as any one.

Kane to Dallas for their 2024 first Khuddoben to make the money work and Martino who seems to be a KD typeface of player. |

Kane will have surgery so the first question is, when is the surgery. Kane would go against heavy checking down the playoff drive and the playoffs even more so. Playing to not get hurt…..you want this sort of player because you surmise he still could produce offense for his new team
Next, after surgery it is debateable how well he could perform in a half season (or less) as well the ‘24 playoffs With a hip injury how long to get in top shape. ……against players much better condition you might see Kane cannot do everything he used to, not at speed. So a healthy Kane emerges in the ‘24/25 season. He won’t be a spring chicken either Meanwhile you do not have that prized ‘23 selection |

Nah, I need a first rounder between the two we have.
I do like Martino, no big but the kinda player who excels with Bedard, as begets open ands a shot despite smaller goal totals than assists.
I think Edmonton is a better partner, because just as Rangers found a shooter AND a defender, the Oilers get a little help on the back end from the Hawks with Kane, IF he wants to go there....we need to take Jesse Puljujärvi and more to make the numbers work, ex-goalie smith deal or Derek Ryan tossed in.
New Jersey can make this deal for Kane too.
Chase Stillman and the 2023 #1 (I don't think Holtz is on the meet yet.)

Kane's issue has been there more than just this season, and he is not going under the knife now, or before free agency...

I get it, but would need a third team to retain as just Puhljarvi does not make the money work for Edmonton.

If we acquire another late 2024 1st round pick we might be able to trade it and a 2023 2nd round pick for another 2023 1st round pick. |

Kane will be the consolation prize after Horvat, Tarasenko and Meier have been dealt.
I think the best KD will get is a 2nd round pick (‘23 or ‘24) and two c-level prospects. |

Yes because if Cat wasn’t traded, more the likelihood that Kane would want to stay. |
