Them and everyone else. The asset cost isn't terrible but getting him signed after that without being able to negotiate ahead of time is a bit scary.

Acquiring a player like him who is on a deal that is expiring is tricky for the Sabres IMO.

They are signing their own right now to what at least looks like a more team friendly type deal.

Trading away assets to get someone and then having to pay that player more than what they just signed two of their core pieces to is when things can get tricky inside a locker room.

At what point do you take that risk and jeopardize the team chemistry in the locker room?

Or do you look to add players with term instead?

Yep. That was the ask from the Flames for Tkachuk too. Canes balked at including both but were okay with giving up Necas at the time.
