Scheme has a lot to do with that too - Swedish_Jesus

They were also a legitimate second line prior to that for nearly two months before hitting the recent rookie wall.
Still doesn’t answer where you were putting Mitts and Olofsson though for this top 6 forward add that Sbroads was humming for - Swedish_Jesus
I'm not sure what they are yet. They had a strong month, but didn't produce before or after. A strong finish would help answer that.
Very uncomfortable with the middle 6 rolling into next season right now.

The kids clearly hit a wall. That said, I am not at all concerned with the middle 6. Jost turned the 3rd line into a productive line. We will most likely see a jump with Quinn and Peterka just as we did with Cozens. It will be fine.
EDIT: and the next crop of kids will be knocking on the door looking for jobs. Win - win |

You could slot in an enormous amount of players and get better results.
They arent top tier 4th liners.
Girgs gets paid like a 3rd liner while producing half as much as other 4th liners.
Okposo looks slow and out of place in over half the games he plays. - DirtyDan
Okay “enormous amount of players” and you didn’t name any 4th line players.
So please name them.
I agree with your points about the players you named.
You aren’t putting Rosen on the 4th line, not Kulich, Asplund sucks, so not doing that

My sources say trading for chickman would kill the room. His favourite player is himself. Signed Someteamates
The best move for KA this year is to not answer his phone |

Having 4 LD together and the 2 RHD together isnt ideal IMO.
McCabe is also more cost effective. Don't spend the farm still get a solid d-man. - DirtyDan
I don’t think that matters at all in 2023. I think maybe 10-15 years ago. Yeah that was a big no no. |

Lol you are not putting those guys on the 4th line right now.
2 of those players aren’t nhl ready and the other is in juniors currently.
Really. Realllyyyy? Bad idea |

If some of these kids are legit top 6 players. Complete unknown atm.
Mitts, Jost, VO works for now, but I'm not happy with that as a 2nd line next year.

Well, yes - that's called roster building. We find out more as we go along. Cozens is a complete known - the only question is what his ceiling actually is. As new kids come along there will be constant re-slotting.

Skinner Tage Tuch
Quinn Cozens Boeser
JJ Krebs Olofsson/Kulich
Asplund Yost Kulich/Rousek |

Part of the awkwardness is that there's been no re-slotting. The lines have been locked for months now. Don't love seeing Cozens as 4C. |

All I know is, none of those aforementioned guys are signed past next offseason.
Where as if I put in a half decent effort, which I won’t, I can find you a ton of guys traded for this past offseason/signed long term in UFA that will be boat anchors on their new teams within a couple seasons (in the case of Jack Campbell, the moment the ink was dry)

Sure, there hasn't been re-slotting because not enough kids are knocking on the door. When the next wave hits it is going to be fascinating.
Why would you list Cozens as a 4c?

3rd pairing smaller mobile defensemen with some issues in their own end and decent offensive ability. McCabe didn’t want to be here and left. He was also always hurt.
Yeah same player. Sabres need a top 4 defensemen horse they can help samualsson, Dahlin, and power not burn out - Sabretooth9

There was move, however, it would mean moving on from one if not both Mittelstadt and Olofsson.
They used their forward add on Tyson Jost who has been a great addition.
Without moving on from Mitts/Olofsson what was your offseason plan to add top 6 help and still give Quinn and Peterka consistent top 9 minutes ? - Swedish_Jesus
They haven't gotten this even without a top 6 add. Hence why they've been sat, or have sat for entire periods over the past few months. |

How would y’all feel if the only deadline move made is announcing the signing of Johnson who joins once his season is finished? |

This is the year the Oilers come out of the West. There's just something off with Colorado this year. Nate comes back and Makar goes out. They're getting bad luck this season. |

probably close to where the leafs and bolts are right now - homiedclown

I love it how you went from "If you aren't competing for the cup, you should tank for last place" to fawning over a more than likely 18-19th place finish |

Because that's been their 4th line a lot for a few months now.
Cozens and Mitts have played 17 minutes together this season. Just one example. Very little shuffling.

That will be entirely dictated by if we make the playoffs.
If we make the playoffs and lose 4 straight games, great job.
If we miss.... I'll be a bit disappointed, but I can never say Adams hasn't been up front with his methodology whether or not I think he should have made the playoffs by that point. He's going for the Bruins model to me, and that means when we get to the show we stay there for a decade. Ok I can wait one more season, but you're on a hot seat next year until the team has a 10 point cushion on the 9th seed. |

That's not the same as saying they are the "4th line". They hit a bit of a wall so their minutes were correctly lightened. This was to be expected with kids that age.
