Fair enough. We can agree to disagree.
He would be my target over Meier if I can only pick one. - Hank Balling
If they acquire Meier, the Sabres have...conservatively .. a top 3-5 forward core.
If they acquire Murphy, their defense gets slightly better.
I respect your desire for more balance on the backend, but if given the choice, ya gotta take adding a superstar |

I would be more inclined to hop on the Meier train if the Sabres had a stronger pipeline of D beyond Johnson. They have four 1st round forward talents in the pipeline with Kulich, Rosen, Ostlund and Savoie and really nothing on D |

He's probably going to walk at the end of the year though. You'll grab him. There are guys in your front office who love him too. |

I get it, but we have two absolute workhorse, stud, franchise D men that play on different pairs for 48-50 minutes of every game.
The Sabres are at times right now, a 1 line team, and have had guys like Thompson playing too many minutes.
Adding Meier allows them to play a viable 2nd line consistently |

It's an organizational philosophical debate I hope they're having. Do they want to go strength on strength and build an elite offense or balance it out more? Either one is interesting.
To be clear, I just hope at the deadline they do something, Darcy |

I mean they could do both, right?
I doubt they do, but I think they like Jokiharju more than most of us probably do |

Bryson also seems to be a real vibes guy.
They have cost certainty on two expensive positions now, and with it, the ability to add some pieces at whatever position they want. We'll see if they do. I hope so.
This is the most fun Sabres team in a generation |

Definite concern that they like their guys way too much.
Dahlin, Tage, Skinner, and Tuch all having career years. Would suck to waste it. No guarantee that this happens again.

People make the mistake of expecting all development or rebuilding to be linear. They could run into injuries in the top 6 next year that they've avoided all year this year. Or a Dahlin/Power injury.
They should not assume that they are just going to take gradual steps to the cup. Take swings at players when the opportunity presents itself |

They have a top offense due to how much production is coming from a few guys.
Planning on that being a consistent occurrence long term, to the tune of no need to add to the offense, seems silly and shortsighted. |
