Just watched both replays. On the Colorado goal, not sure why Carter skated AWAY from MacKinnon, and then just kind of stood still and watched. Did he forget they were playing 4v4?
On the Makar hit, that absolutely was an accidental-on-purpose hit. If that was another player on Crosby, this board would be irate and calling for his head.

I'd suspend him for the rest of the year. Including playoffs.

Watching Makar and MacKinnon was awesome last night. Damn those guys are good. - madmike71
Yeah, I only went to 1 Flyers game last year, for my daughter's Cub Scout night. Luckily, it was against Colorado. I knew the Flyers were going to lose (and they rightfully did), but it was a treat to watch those two live.

hahaha while it is totally possible Carter tried that he doesn't have a history of dirty play at all that I am aware of. I'm sure someone here will correct me if I'm overlooking something(s). He's turning his head away from Makar following the puck as it happens and Makar is turning his head towards Carter. When you watch it in actual game speed it doesn't look near as deliberate. Again, it is possible he tried it. We will never know.

agreed that in the past he hasn't shown much in the dirty player aspect...will never know but it seemed like just a bump from his shoulder pad to the side of makar's chin/head. I'd be surprised if it was intentional, but then again carter will always be a flyer at heart

Yeah. If he was a true Penguins at heart, it would have been an "accidental" knee to the head or an "accidental" flying elbow to the head.

Yeah... That was a headshot....for sure. - madmike71
Yeah it is but in Carters defense he cant see where he's shoulder shrugging at all as he's turned away watching the puck and I dont even think he could see Makar turning into him....was he shrugging thinking it would be body contact? Kind of a reckless/careless play anyway, if so.

The more we look at things in slow-mo the worse it looks. It was the same thing with the Trouba chicken wing on Crosby last playoffs, for me anyway. When I watch that in actual game speed I dont think its near as bad or intentional. I think if that was the only time Trouba had ever hit anyone's head, in any way, there wouldn't of been near as much outrage.

whoa whoa none of condone matt cooke the ninja with precision Achilles heal cutting abilities, but seriously I think most people agree he was a piece of $hit

That was actually James Neal I was referring to. Matt Cooke is way too easy. I mean, I can talk about Crosby jumping guys or punching guys in the balls if you prefer.
But no you're right, only the Flyers ever had dirty players.

Just poking fun bud…of course every team has players that are dirty or have done dirty things…also no one here liked Neal either, dude was a good goal scorer but an idiot on the ice and a locker room cancer

I actually really liked James Neal when he was in Dallas, and I thought that getting him (and Niskanen) was a great move for the Pens. But then when I got to watching him a lot more, I agree he was an idiot on the ice, and was glad when they traded him. But yes, dude sure could shoot.

Agreed , pumped when we got him, and pumped when he left hahaha

I dunno, I think Makar skated into the path of his shoulder, I'm not so sure that's on Carter. Dude was going in a straight line toward the puck before Makar bats the puck away and then Makar turned right into Carter's path to go chase the puck.

If that's accidental, then the same is true of this:
Marchand shoots while Johansson is skating back. Marchand skates toward the slot where Johansson had just skated into on his backcheck.
