Harding showed up in Edmonton on a boxing card about twenty years ago. A teenager from Sherwood Park knocked her out. |

I like your roster but Anderson as the back up to Sammy? I assume that was just a typo? - Cush29
Not as of today....don't trust him to take the net and keep it yet. I hope BOTH are rolling by the playoffs tho. |

Exactly! I think the best investment is Chychrun and Meier. The cap hit is reasonable for what he brings to the table. A Chychrun deal gives us a bonafide Quarterback and in the right age bracket for our core. On Meier, he has arbitration rights and you could do a sign and trade after the season and recoup assets. You may just want to keep him over Nylander, once you see the total package this guy is. Watching Meier, he's a bull out there. Exactly what the Leafs need on the left side. On Rielly, it's time to move him, while in his prime. He's neither a defensive defenseman nor a powerplay quarterback. Good, not great doesn't cut it for the top defenseman on the roster. - PrinceLH

I’m sold. - Woderwick Too bad Dubas isn't. He'll allow these two great players to go elsewhere and we'll waste another year of prime hockey by the core, by going out again in the first round. Dubas would rather go the same route as before and use scruffs, who'll play OK, but OK isn't going to cut it. Get by Tampa and you have a shot. Tampa is in a precarious position, with the Cap, and this is our year to take them out with the right moves. Who knows where Boston will be, by playoff time. We know who we're playing, so arm up and take them out. Pretty sad that you know who your first round opponent is, at the end of November. Five months of playing out the string until playoffs. Personally, I believe the Leafs had this planned out for the Matthews injury. Three games before the Allstar break, 9 days off, come back and play bottom feeders for the next 3 weeks. Trade deadline comes and goes and then Matthews reappears for the stretch run. Cap money saved, room to make a deal with Tampa restricted to make a huge upgrade. Now let's see if Dubas has the balls to go all in and get this team to the Promised Land.

ROR is a no for me. Seems like a Foligno redux.
Bunting, Matthews, Nylander
Domi, Tavares, Marner
Engvall, Kampf, Jarnkrok
McMann, The Pontus, ZAR
Soucy, Brodie
Rielly, Schenn
Gio, Lily
Sandin(Benn), Holl(Timmins)
Samsonov
Anderson
Domi + Soucy + Schenn = ~$6.5M = (Holl trade) or (Sandin trade) + Muzzin + Other LTIR, with a little change to spare without making a deal to retain on any player.

How, exactly, are you going to move a guy with a full NMC and a high cap hit for the rest of the decade?!?

Talk to Vancouver, where he comes from and see if there's assets to be had for him. A 1st round draft pick might work, they'll want to make sure it's not the Bedard pick, so it can be top 3 protected. If that doesn't work, a decent roster player and a 2nd coming back. Rielly could then play at home where he came from. There must be a way to get around this NMC. Rielly is too comfortable in Toronto and needs to prove himself again. Him and Tessa can enjoy the West Coast together. Leafs need to get bigger and tougher, to get out of the division.

I was last year too, when he refused the call-up.
Looks a bit more promising on that front now though.

Adding those 2 would really shore up this team. Definitely the dream acquisitions and I think can be done. It'll really empty the prospects cupboard though and in a year that the goaltenders are still a bit of a question mark.
Murray is just unreliable physically and Samsonov seems to blow up a bit in high pressure games.
With that said, this is the year to go big or go home... Again...
