McDavid having one assist is a sub par game for him. Like I said, the Flyers have the answer for McDavid.
- MJL
Start shopping Cates out west, we have a McDavid stopper! |

Very underwhelming performance by McDavid and Draisaitl, was expecting a lot more. McDavid was cheating a lot, always breaking the zone hoping a puck got chipped by - ClaudeFather
That whole offense is predicating on cheating. Try to out man rush you to death.
I thought McDavid had his moments. Draisaitl not so much. |

Torts has also been in the league how long? Everyone knows how his teams are going to play, this is just false, there’s no surprise. You’re going to have to work for the win, teams know that going into the game - ClaudeFather
Surprise probably wasn't the best word.
It's more like luring/lulling opponents into playing Torts' preferred style. Teams that are happy to live in all the open ice on the perimeter are gonna just get shot-blocked to hell. Teams that commit to taking the puck inside will give Torts' teams fits, but that requires a certain battle and work ethic that isn't always present when a team is trying to coast to a win. |

Seems everyone else thought he played poorly for his standards. I was disappointed, thought I was gonna see a guy take over a game - ClaudeFather
You sir are incorrect -- he was on top of his game - if it was not for the meddling Cate's and Laughton's he would have scored numerous hat tricks! |

that's right, because nothing the Flyers do is done well or is right. It has to be the McDavid had a bad game, otherwise would actually have to give the Flyers some credit. |

This is an example of how the Flyers PR machine and marketing strategy along with Tortorella's manipulation has worked on a large faction of the fan base. My standards are higher. So is the leagues as Tortorella will not get consideration for coach of the year. - MJL
I don’t think it’s PR, I just think they’re just better than what we expected. I think he’s doing a good job, not a great job. I can only say by what I see during games but I’m not at the practices. With this said, I don’t see anything that says he should win the Jack Adams.
Being 12th worst in the league instead of 5th worst as most of us expected isn’t that impressive. It’s not like we’re in the playoffs. |

I think Torts deserves the Jack Adams award this year, hands down! - jd250
Krakstol wins that if the Kraken qualify for the playoffs. |

Holding McDavid to one point is pretty impressive all around. - PLindbergh31
😆 🤡 But it doesn't change flyers nomansland status. 😩 |

Yes, right now I would say the leading candidates are Hakstol, Bowness, Ruff, DeBoer, and possibly Montgomery.
Hak is in the lead, and Torts isn't even in the conversation IMO.

Good, but not great job in your opinion. Why? What in your mind would Torts have to do to classify as great in your mind? |

I find it interesting that a lot of top scoring players suck at SOs. Marchand and Pastrnak are two such players I don't see convert frequently. I will say as bad as McDavid's SO attempt was, Draisaitl's was even worse! |

The franchise has been resurrected. Torts is coach of the year. Flyers have the answer to stopping McDavid that the rest of the league doesn't have. Ristolainen is the Flyers best defenseman and one of the best in the league. I'm on board.
Frost for crying out loud, move your feet.
I'll let you know of any further developments. As soon as Torts has another press conference. |

McDavid's move was far worse. Embarrassing for a player of his caliber and completely lackadaisical.

Cates struggles offensively in the center spot. - MJL
He Has three less points than frost. Going against tougher matchups, first year playing a new position as a rookie.
He is doing fine.

Yup .. I get your point, making the playoffs with this roster would be a real miracle. Of course it will also secure the franchise in mediocrity for years to come, but it would be a great coaching achievement. |

But compared to the other coaches people have mentioned, has Montgomery contributed the most to the Bruins' success? The Bruins last year had 107 points in 51 wins under Cassidy. |

What Montgomery has done in Boston is much, much harder to do than what Tortorella has done with the Flyers. |

This is why I don't really think Montgomery is the front runner. Yes, I thought they would be in decline and the fact they have the best record is quite a surprise to me. He should be in the conversation for sure, and for that matter so should Rod.
But I think if the Kraken make the playoffs, Hakstol is the clear cut shoe in.
