It becomes more and more apparent everyday why his schtick wears out everywhere he's been.
Didn't want to talk about Kevin Hayes and his benching but couldn't wait to talk trash about Frost's play. It's tiresome already. - TobyFlenderson
Most coach's schtick wear out wherever they go. That's why the old saying is that coaches are hired to be fired. Actually, Torts has a pretty good track record when it comes to longevity from place to place outside of his stint with the Nucks.
This is why TK isn't considered to be among the best in the league. He is a good/very good player, but can't get to the next level cause of this. It's like he gets in his own head. You can see that he is pressing. Bring out the sports phycologist. - Phillywhiteout
When is Tortorella going to address that in one of his press conferences?

I would guess when he is asked about him. Kind of surprised that the question hasn't been brought up. Again though, you can't lose sight of the fact that you can't treat everyone the same. There are different personalities that have to be dealt with in different ways when managing a group. Torts' main philosophy is if he feels the player is giving his all he leaves them alone even if the results aren't there. From what I see TK's compete level hasn't dropped, but his production certainly has.
He has routinely called out players who are playing with effort. Tortorella is schizo. - MJL
Well, I guess we have to agree to disagree. I'm guessing that you are referring to Frost and Hayes. It's quite obvious that Frost has more to give. Just look at last night's effort by him. Hayes can be lazy at times and we all know that. Seems as if he has steadied his game. All coaches have players that they like more than others I suppose. From the results I think Torts is fine although his style certainly isn't for everyone. The young guys seem to be progressing and I'm actually able to watch the games again cause they compete every night as opposed to the last few seasons when they would just implode at the first sign of adversity.

You told me that Tortorella will leave a player alone if the effort is there, even if the results aren't. You posted that Frost had a really good game last night. Yet Tortorella criticized Frost in the post game presser. He recently criticized Angelo. Is he not playing with effort?

There's exceptions to every rule. I didn't know that he was critical of Frost last night, but Angelo deserves to be blasted. Not sure if he is playing with effort or not, but that dude needs to understand that he is a defenseman. He is always caught up ice and out of position, and that would be frustrating for any coach to see night after night.

In my opinion, Angelo plays with effort. He just isn't good defensively and never was. Not due to an effort issue. You're contradicting your earlier statement that Tortorella leaves players alone as long as they play with effort even if the results aren't there, by saying that Angelo deserves to be blasted.

TK may be in a slump but overall, he busts it out there. He can only do so much.
Maybe other teams are defending him better than earlier in the season? That happens in hockey. I like Torts but not sure what makes him tick. He has his favorites, but don't all coaches do the same?

I agree with this. I liked what I saw from Frost last night and yes, Hayes has his moments. Spot on about coaches having their favorites...that's the way it has been and will always be despite our opinions. We don't know know what goes on at practice, behind the scenes, etc, so who knows why coaches have their favs. I agree with you in that it is great to see them competing this season.

Jaromir Jagr. Pavel Bure. Brendan Shanahan. Theo Fleury. Vladimir Tarasenko. Artemi Panarin. Brad Richards. Chris Drury. Bobby Holik. Scott Gomez. Eric Lindros. Wayne Gretzky.
It is truly gross watching the Rangers try to buy a cup as much and for as long as they have.

But the opinion that counts is mine. Especially because it comes from me.
And I say they both suck in comparison to America the Beautiful. Especially the Ray Charles' soulful rendition. They made an "official video" version of it last year for the 50th anniversary of its recording. Very nicely done:

Thank you.
IMHO too, although maybe I should leave off that 'H'.

LHV 5-2 winners, Brink 2 apples, Desnoyers 2 points, good stuff on the farm. I really hope they can make a run, would be good for the prospects on the farm and the organization

Lol, can the Flyers really throw stones? - Tomahawk
Ha! Good point. Maybe this is just sour grapes that the Rags have learned to manage their salary cap well enough to buy talent. Of course, the NHL’s largesse in granting them high draft picks year after year helps.

Like a Pens fans should talk about being gifted high draft picks! You would have moved if not for being gifted Mario and Cindy. Eh what??
