50% max.

not necessarily. if they had a 3rd they could have been used as a cap space buffer. Kane to Team B 50% and then Team B to NYR 50%. pretty sure that's been done in the past

it really wouldnt have worked anyway

his cap hit of 10.5 million compared to Tarasenko's 7.5 million was too big a gap

even if Blackhawks retained half of Kane's hit like St Louis did, the Rangers wouldnt have been able to add the defenseman they clearly wanted

- jimbro83

Seeing the Tarasenko deal, and thinking of what the Kane deal could’ve been giving up (with a 3rd team needed)…this was an easy pass. With the injury to boot. Kane would’ve been wonderful but this is the best outcome for the team

I will miss something I never had tho

Yes. But, that wasn't truly the question he was asking.
Even with multiple teams involved, no one team can retain more than 50%, or I believe, more than 50% of whatever portion is remaining.

Twitter thread.

Patrick Kane on Vladimir Tarasenko trade to Rangers: "It's not like the happiest I've been to hear about a trade. I think the Rangers are a team that you definitely pay attention to and definitely are intrigued by, for obvious reasons." #Blackhawks

Patrick Kane on whether he had the Rangers on his potential radar: "If things were going to happen, that was a team I was definitely looking at. It seems like they kind of filled their void and went ahead and made a deal, so it is what it is."

Patrick Kane feels his hip injury is overblown: "Yeah, I think so. I'm not sure what the story is to be honest with you, but I feel better than I did last year. It's just one of those things that maybe the story leaks out and it piles up a little bit."

Patrick Kane said he expects to make a decision within the next 10 days or so about his future: "Obviously you want to do right by the franchise, and the organization here has been amazing to me and given me so much. So you definitely want what's best for both sides."

Didn’t realize it dipped that badly. Thought he would for sure come in at 50 points minimum

The PP has been sputtering hard. His points are a direct correlation of that.

His assists per 60 are down from 1.0 to 0.8. His goals are per 60 are at 1.3. Last year he had goals per 60 of 2.1. Which insane. He's having a typical Kreider season. Certainly not bad by any means.
