No. Get a forward. Chychrun isn’t nearly enough of an upgrade on Sandin to warrant giving up Knies - Canada Cup
We agree on this.
Giving up on Knies' potential is a tough one for me. Rather lose this years 1st round pick.
Maybe add the pick and add a different player with Sandin and go for Chychrun and Crouse? |

I would just stay away from Chychrun completely. Somebody is going to overpay.
Find a winger with term. Maybe Torts is sick of Konecny by now. If Willie can play on the left side, that’s the guy I go after. (Today. I reserve the right to fall in love with someone else tomorrow.) |

I'm not sold on Chychrun either, I feel he's more of the same with an extra + here or there but not enough for the cost.
I want scrappy up front and on D. Konecny has some scrappiness so sure. For today.
Puck, I think, pointed out a tough defender the other day that was off the radar a bit. Mozoltov Cocktail might've been his name? I forget his name but know the player he mentioned and he would work nicely.
Konecny and Mozoltov. Let's go!!! |

you guys need a power forward that is not a rental, someone that push the pace, be physical, someone usually good in the playoffs, also would not be a bad idea to get a big physical D under contract with a decent cap hit.
Problem is with these guys...is the cap hit and what you need to send in return to make it work cap wise. No team is holding salary for a player with multiple years left on their contract so the Leafs have to work with money in, money out, which means sacrificing players you like. |

Knies + Sandin for Chychrun. Who says no? - Aaron_85
Me.
I don't see Chychrun as a real need for the Leafs, plus I like Sandin and I"d be fearful of Knies panning out as a real big time deal and us seeing it added to the list of dreadful Toronto trades for years.
I mean the kid is 20 and 6'3" and 210 lbs currently & as such I would guess has a sufficiently thick neck, just not sure if he can "pull start lawnmowers" or not.

I guess you can just roll Wellwood down the 401, that's pretty much his shape now...round. |

Take Engvall this year and they should be able to find a way. There’s a crap load of $ coming off next year and some Marlies and Knies potentially ready for cheap spots and a couple of other finds out there. Holl out and Timmins in, etc |

He was revolutionary in his tricky plays, trying to go between the legs before it was an everyday thing but alas Leaf management and coaching staff were unimpressed and told poor Kyle to stop that poop!

Knies + Sandin for Chychrun. Who says no? - Aaron_85
Lilly and Knies more than likely gets it done.. folks are down on Sandin now it seems to me.. they see the better upside with Lily.
I would rather they do that package & a 1st though for Timo… who is basically a bigger more badass - better version of Evander Kane without all the baggage.. |

Is he that good?
I watched the game last night, he was meh. But that's the only game I've actually looked for and watched him. |

What about PLD out of Winni?
He only has a year contract. UFA (RFA?) this summer. |

Knies + Sandin for Chychrun. Who says no? - Aaron_85
I say yes! You still retain your first and can deal for a rugged bottom 6 forward with other assets than your 1st. Chychrun has a bomb for a shot and would enhance the powerplay. He also plays big minutes, unlike Sandin, and has size for in front of the net. The Leafs defense does not match up with Tampa's or Boston's. This guy gets them closer. |

I’m usually always hopeful for your Leafs - man it sucks that I can’t be after hearing The Dubas.
Not addressing goaltending? Geez that’s awful.
Murray will not remain healthy (ever). So in probably the last year of 34 91 88 16 - you actually believe that Samsonov and the AHL tender is good enough!? Yikes.
Tenders are the most important position in hockey in my opinion. I think you can look at the majority of teams that win Cups - really good goaltending is the common denominator. There are the outlier years like Colorado last year with Kuemper but really is Samsonov playing his best vs Kuemper playing his best better? Hell of a risk for The Dubas… I fear it won’t pay out.
Just upset to see this happen. As an outsider |

I would also build a team from the net out
Demko or Saros
(Woll may be the long term answer) 🤷🙏
Then, shore up the D
(Chychrun, Graves, McCabe etc)
FW last (easiest to acquire) |

Leafs have two NHL quality goaltenders and one that's ready to break out. Robidas Island for Murray next year, unless another team wants to make a pitch, seems logical. Samsonov is still very young and improving. Sign him to a $2.5 X 4 next year and the goaltending will be fine.
