What game! ... that was one of the best SuperBowl I've seen, too bad someone had to lose.
The Chiefs really came into their own in the 2nd half ... their D was absolutely stellar against a very potent Philly offense.
Congrats to the new champions! |

Gramps is from the city that had Al Capone and the Big Outfit (mafia).
You don't mess with those guys unless you want to wear cement shoes and end up in Lake Michigan ... |

kinda sucks, I was rooting for the Eagles just to support kick in his process to become a sports betting mogul, but I'm sure it can still happen. |

you have risen in my view by knowing its called the outfit in chicago and not the mafia.
fun fact. my dad grew up with most of the dudes from the old guard era. in fact my godmother's uncle was the like the #2-3 guy at various times. |

Interesting stuff ... I actually read a few books about the history of the mafia.
That's why I knew about the "Outfit" nomenclature. |

that era mostly came from one neighborhood of the city. my dad's family were one of the very few greek families in that area. the greek area was a little north and east of there.
oh and there are some stories that my maternal great grandfather drove a truck for ralph capone.

We've alo had our fair share of "interesting characters" here in Quebec (Montreal) over the years ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rizzuto_crime_family
Also, lots of murders and shenanigans from the Hells Angels. - Garfield512
yeah, i have read a bit about the mafia in and around montreal.
you might find this interesting. if you have ever see a show about john wayne gacy, when they show him getting off an elevator with two illinois state cops, the shorter of the two was very good friends with my parents. here is where is hooks with our mafia talk. he was a terrific entertainer. a singer and sax player. some of the boys wanted him to set him up in vegas at one of the hotels but he didn't want to owe them anything. the reason he became a state cop is because they blackballed him for years in this area so he could't perform anywhere. until finally enough of the older guys moved on and he could finally perform again. he was really good, too. had a voice and a great personality to entertain a crowd. |
