i read an article where they are already working on ways to mitigate the heat from the sun so that we can continue to live on this planet. space dust, or a bunch of weird inflatable things that would go between the sun and us.

personally I'd slowly expose him to it, it's unavoidable anyways, so might as well make it a learning experience and show him what he should be careful about, and what kind of attitude/approach he should have with others online. my 2 cents.
