There’s a lot of guys on the Canucks who are paid $2.5m too much. can’t blame the players for that stupidity though. I swear that Canuck GM chair is cursed. - bloatedmosquito

I wonder if you look across the league, what the average on "overpayment" is the last couple years. Lots of overpaid players on the Canucks, but lots of overpaid players everywhere. |

Gives them the chance, but also Silovs the chance to get some real NHL action. It's a big jump from the AHL, so being able to train in the summer with that experience should be a huge boost for him. A pretty straightforward and understandable reason to play him, one would think - NewYorkNuck

Sad but true.
That is what is needed though to get high draft picks. You need to suffer first to get them. - VANTEL
It would be nice to suffer next season as well but I don't know if that will be allowed.
Personally, I don't mind if they make smart moves to try and compete next season but don't forget that asset management is still a priority for them. |

100%. The term “over-paid” is relative to success. As fans, we use the term over-paid to voice our displeasure with the results. Score goals, get wins, all is forgiven. |

Plus, I think a lot of us think a certain "kind" of player should only be making X dollars. But, the league shifts and sometimes they're right in the ballpark of what they "should" be making relative to their peers. |

By taking on an expensive expiring contract for a decent draft pick or prospect. |

The quicker they get rid of BB the better, regretfully I don't see it happening until the summer, if at all. - VanHockeyGuy

If the D was middle of the pack or better it would look much different. Still believe the Forwards as a group are not good at 200’ hockey. |

An unpopular choice here, but I'd like VAN to get Greenway.

Many thought the same last season. Including Rutherford. Maybe with a cap increase over 1M, will give some room to make moves for teams. - manvanfan
No Bruce bump this season they’ll be doing some purging. Bo gone is one step. |

GM Ken Holland still believes he can salvage some sort of positive value for Puljujarvi.
There is a belief that the Hurricanes have indicated that they are willing to move winger Ondrej Kase (currently on LTIR with a concussion) to Edmonton for Puljujarvi but only after the Finnish winger has cleared waivers. That would allow Carolina to shuffle him back and forth between the AHL if needed while seeing if a change of scenery could help get him going.
That's quite the difference in evaluation. |
