Yeah disappointing but do you guys think we will have win all the rest of the game. I don’t expect to make the playoff but don’t want to to tank. Want the team try to win more than they can
I want Dorion to be sellers and buyers. If he can add a goalie or Defenseman go for it
I agree DJ have to go. Dorion I hope he stay but with a Poho - Crosside
Why would you buy anything at the deadline when everything for sale is overpriced unless you were a Cup contender and you were willing to overpay for a player or players you thought would take you to the promised land? Look at what TO just paid for ROR. Deadly. |

You probably have reason. Not want someone in rental but if we can add someone with two or more term in his contract. No problem with that |

This team remains a pretender. Stu, Brady, Giroux, Bath, Grieg, Sanderson, Pinto stick. Take calls on any and everyone else. I'd move every single UFA for draft assets or young B+ prospects, dangle Norris' contract for a real RD with some term to see if there are any biters, and wait till the offseason to buy out Zaitsev. Take calls on Debrincat, test the water. Take calls on Chabot, test the water. Worried Zub will become the new Russian Z target after his extension - he hasn't looked very good lately. Also worried about Belleville - our once vaunted prospect pool isn't showing too well. So load up on picks - new owners will love having more draft capital to start out the gate and it'll serve Dorion well to make them happy. There's lots to like about this team - get a competent bench boss, start a season well for a change, and the narrative could be much, much different this time next year. |

Agree with everything Bart just said. We are not yet ready. More tinkering to be done. The issue with Norris is health. Nobody touching that deal with an unproven shoulder. And really he’s an unproven talent. Can he score 30-40 again? 🤷♂️ |

Yeah for all the credit you can give PD for the Stutzle deal, I think the Norris deal has the potential to look very Colin Whitey, very quick. Many teams figured out his game by the end of last season. That being said, I hope I am proven very wrong because as you say, he's pretty much unmovable until he shows up on the ice again. |

Motte held out of practice for trade related reasons.
So much for waiting on "the next seven games" to decide on being sellers or buyers.
And we are trading the only 4th line player I want to keep.... |

He's not talking about tinkering. With his plan you've got Stutzle, Tkachuk, Batherson, Sanderson and a smallish Greig. Giroux is gone in a couple of years. So he's basically blowing up the team and holding onto 4 guys. Good luck with that lunacy! |

You don't need to put down other folks' ideas - better to proffer your own suggestions, it leads to healthier conversations! Facts can help too - you mention the importance of height a lot.
It may surprise you that last year Ottawa was the tallest team in the NHL other than Vegas. I'd argue that team was objectively worse than this year's iteration by nearly all definitions. This year the Senators fall in the middle of the pack height wise, and on the lighter end weightwise. Still - it serves to note - the Toronto Maple Leafs, a team I think we can all agree are better than our Sens on all fronts, are both shorter and lighter on both the forward and defense end of the ice. Last year's Stanley Cup winners - the Avs, are on average, shorter on both the front and back end of the ice than our Sens. We're also taller and heavier than the Kings, Penguins, Wild, Canadiens and Canucks on both ends. The point is - what matters is talent and has always been talent, and this team is missing a fair amount of it in some key areas. You build through the draft, and that's one place we haven't been terrible, so I say get a new owner, plug some resources into supporting our already capable scouts, and start building from the base up. Doing something like paying real assets to help Chicago by taking Conor Murphy's contract off their hands, just because he's big and plays the right position, is what I am most afraid of, IMO - trading for term instead of talent is what this team does not need. |

Motte for Gauthier and a 7th round pick from NY that upgrades to a low 6 if NYR advance a round. Underwhelming all things considered, Gauthier is a big kid but hasn't shown much ability and Motte is a known commodity on the PK. Maybe JG is seen as next year's Austin Watson, 4RW, in which case, watch Watson move next. This is definitely not a win now move though - perhaps a sign we are sellers. |

Could be just a case of a GM doing a solid for a player who deserves it or who has beed a good soldier for the team this year but isnt in their long term plans. Loved Motte on our fourth line but clearly would have appreciated a higher draft pick, like a 5th. If for no other reason than to punish them for the horrible Mika z. Trade.

Mads looks good. Maybe we roll with him at the 2nd Goalie next year. Trade Talbot to the Pens for Joseph's brother. And draft a Russian goalie this year. |

Now Garrioch talking Gauthier replaces Watson because Watson could be on the move. Okay...makes more sense. But who wants Watson??? |

Waiting all year for a fun afternoon like this afternoon.
My favourite play was Stutzle's big hit (called a charge). Kid has some real snarl. Big hit. Incredible pin point pass for an assist on a goal. A+ finish for a goal.
But, no Gordie Howe please. I don't want him fighting. So the charging call has to be good enough. |

Sens are 3-1-1 since all star break .700.
Unlikely, but if they can maintain this pace they would finish the season with 96 points and probably nail down 7th place and face Carolina in the first round. |

Over last 10 games Sens have gone 7-2-1. Best current 10 game record of any team in the Atlantic Division. Other teams in the hunt for the 7 and 8 wildcard spot are stumbling. Pittsburg (7) 4-4-2, (8) Islanders 5-3-2, (9) Washington 3-7-0. Of the remaining teams in the hunt Detroit 7-3-0 and Ottawa 7-2-1 are coming on the strongest. Buffalo 6-3-1 also continues to come. Florida 5-4-1 has not been able to get it going to make a consistent run. |

Agree wholeheartedly - it's not a big deal move but a bump in the draft caliber woulda been nice. It'll never make up for Mika though lol. |

Well the boys were humming against St. Louis that's certain. After a somewhat boring first period they seemed to turn on the jets and took over the game against a blues team that looks to be just a ghost of the team that won the Cup not that long ago.
Tkachuk, Stutzle and Giroux were dominant along with Batherson, Pinto and DeBrincat.
That Batherson pass to Pinto and the DeBrincat pass to Batherson were things of beauty and the finish shown by Pinto and then Batherson was top tier.
Once again Stutzle and Tkachuk put on a show for the crowd with Stutzle just owning Greiss on both of his goals and Tkachuk showing good hand eye coordination on his.
Sogard looked solid again which bodes well for the future and Greig potted his first.
Chabot was strong all the way through playing the kind of game I expect from him.
Tkachuk really lost his cool when they blew the game against Chicago because he knew how important that point was. I've never seen him like that before and maybe it put a bit of the fear of God into the rest of the team. Just kidding. I think they all want to win and make the playoffs but maybe his anger helped some of them believe a bit more.
I look forward to seeing how they do against Boston.
I don't know anything about Gauthier other than what they say. He's big and can skate and plays with a bit of an edge. Might end being an effective bottom six RW. Motte was steady and dependable which is what the Rangers wanted but I don't think he fit in with the Sens plans. Would have liked a better pick coming back but it's no great catastrophe and may work out well overall.
It looks to me like Giroux has been fading a bit of late which is no surprise considering his age and the tempo of guys like Stutzle and Tkachuk. I think when Norris gets back we'll see him playing the RW alongside Stutzle and Tkachuk while Giroux slides down to play with Greig whom he seemed to connect well with. This depends a bit on what happens with DeBrincat and I have no clue what will happen there. A lot depends on what the new owners will decide to do with Dorion.
I think I've made it pretty clear what I would like to see but if the new owners are just a bunch of real estate guys who don't care too much about the team or hockey we might end up with another season of the dynamic duo of Dorion and Smith.

If Watson goes lets hope Parker Kelly goes too. Make an actual 4th line that pops not one that keeps taking useless penalties and gets hemmed in their own end for minutes at a time.
And people getting excited over former 1st round picks that have never materialized can remember that Watson himself is a former 1st round pick. |
