no reason to do that with Drouin and Dadonov, they are UFA after this season. Hoffman has 1yr left on their deal, Armia has 2yrs, no need to pay someone, not like the Habs are in contending mode for the next 2yrs. Armia is useful when healthy, Hoffman is streaky offensively and useless in his zone.

exactly. let Drouin, Byron, Dadonov and Monahan walk.
buy out Hoffman this summer.
be patient with Armia.
trade Edmundson next year (if unable to do it this time around)
so pretty quiet tdl imo
Dvorak, Anderson.... not tdl moves imo. buyers mainly want pending ufas.

why? he'll only have 1 year left on his contract, what would be the point?

with all the players you're letting walk, I doubt you need to make space lol.

Habs had 15 forwards on NHL contracts. minus Byron Drouin Monahan and Dadonov... that makes 11 forwards for next year. only one spot open.

that's IF no one else gets traded, which is unlikely (habs will probably make at least one move, I doubt that literally nothing happens at the TDL).

For me, the real question is will they move one of Dvorak, Armia, Anderson, Allen....I guess it depends on the return, no urgency in moving them unless the return meets HuGo's expectations.

I could see a late pick + Armia to make some cap room. Anyhow...I expect smart moves and the unexpected

we all hope they will do, but who gets traded at the tdl?
not guys with 0 value, and not guys with many years remaining on their contract.
that leaves... noone! lol
unless we get a nice surprise of course

If I would guess...I'd say they will move Anderson, simply because Hughes keeps mentioning his name, even when the question is about something else.

In Amria's case, a spot for a kid. And yes. Cap space is an asset. If PLD decides to come here, you need the space. Same for Cole's new contract and whatever upgrade you'll try and bring to the lineup

If I ever saw a player use a team to get a better contract elsewhere....

I dunno, columns-joking aside he does still have playmaking abilities, he just can't shoot anymore, which is kind of important when you're a hockey player... perhaps a team will give him a chance but I wouldn't be surprised if he retired very early.
- Pat1993

I get that feeling too ... from the impression he gives me, he's never seemed to be too commited to a pro career. I might be wrong on this though.

the "bois mort" seems to have a lot less value for the TDL than anticipated, but I agree it's a delicate balance. let's hope Hughes and Gorton have a few tricks up their sleeves to make the most of it.

It's HuGo ... live with it.
