Depends if he can grow as the team does. Can he change from a Wide Open Style to a more Balanced system with Defensive help.
- Buff36

No I don’t need a system change that focuses on making players play more defense at the cost of highest scoring team in the league.

Get a top 4 d and Get a Better goalie. Anaheim had 3 goals on what 11 shots last night.

It’s a common theme.

Ottawa just had two rookie goalies make 35+ saves each.

Buffalo goalies are bad, to below average.

but is he the guy or just a guy?
- homiedclown

No idea. I think he is the guy as he has pushed so many right buttons over the last 2 years. What he has done isn't nothing. This is where I think it is a bit unfair to see what Adams and Granato have done given the current landscape and then use that to project when the landscape is different.

the blah economy is also going to hurt the smaller market teams more than the larger market teams
- homiedclown

Meh.

People were shelling out 500-700 for a Bills ticket this year.

The Sabres sucked for 11 years. It takes its toll. Still not in playoffs.

Common fan/ People don’t care about vibes they care about results.

And yet another example of how people love to come here with a negative (and poorly reasoned) slant. So let me get this straight - Ottawa's rookies had 2 good games... and this is a point to be used to grade our goalies? 2 games?

(our starter is 13 - 7 )

Well, sure, but this is an area where you just don't double your attendance from one year to the next. People need to be convinced. Also, the pandemic got people used to watching from home - I think people like me realized that they prefer that.
- Slump Buster

If this team were in contention for the division right now, this place would be at 80-90% capacity every night at least. The Clown is right in that the economy plays a factor into it, but it's not that people can't afford it. It's that they prioritize other things on a limited budget. A record that is still in the bottom half of the league isn't going to make them high on people's priority list. They still have some of the league's cheapest ticket prices, too.

He's kind of right in that a poor economy does cause people to prioritize their spending more, especially on leisure/entertainment. If you're in a league where 50% of the teams make the postseason, and you're not one of them, you move closer to the bottom of the priority list than not.

this narrative is tired and not accurate. If people want to go to sporting events, they certainly can.

go to 5 sabres games, or 1 or 2 bills games

easy answer given current state of each team

young people getting their degrees in their mid 20's

look at what the sabres have given them recently and the bills given them

when you see nothing but losing over a decade, the team has to make them want to be fans again which is not going to happen overnight

I have all of the above with the exception of the kids (I have 3). Don't get me wrong - prices are higher after a year of global inflation. I completely get why people choose not to not go to a tuesday night game in january. We are averaging almost 15k right now - I suspect that gets closer to 16k by the end of the year.

I was 23 back in O5/06. Went to games all the time. They were fun and worth it, the Bills were bad. I went to 1 game a year.

If I was 23 again I’d rather go to Bills games. The team is better and worth spending the money on.

Our goalies are bad, the stats back it.

Our starter is 13-7 because the Sabres score 6 goals a game.

Comrie got the win last night and since we are basing solely on W/L he should start again. Regardless that he looked like a damn fish out of water flopping around most of the night.

Add. If you take a look at this save % above expected. Those two Ottawa goalies are at the top of the list. Hint you have to scroll way down to find any Sabres goalie.

Just because you become more defensively sound, doesn't mean you have to take away from offense. It actually might make it better because you are spending less time in your Zone.

I can't. I just can't. Wasn't it just 2 months ago that you were criticizing the goalies for not making big saves at the end of the game when we were playing pond hockey? So now one of them makes these saves and is winning games.... and the goalposts move. It has to be exhausting.

I think the question is, how many coaches could you go out and get where you are sure you'd have an upgrade? There are 30 Rick Tochets available to recycle - I want no part of any of them.

Concert prices are out of control. Got Taylor Swift tickets for my daughter, I paid less for Bills season tickets 6 years ago.

Yes goalies need to make saves when it matters. Goalposts haven’t moved. I need my goalies to make more saves on high danger chances. They don’t do that currently.

my bills tickets during the super bowl run was 15 a game down low in endzone , more for playoffs

sabres seats in the orange were 12 bucks in the aud

dead tickets were 18 ea at the ralph and $5 for a concert at darien lake

over the last 30 years of course sabre tickets have not gone up as much as the other 2 but the overall product is bad for a long time and I honesty think the hockey die hard fans in WNY is probably down 30 percent as well as the casual fans which the sabres will have to try to win back

I got you. The .650 winning percentage stat doesn't matter at all. Ok, we won't beat this into the ground again.

More than half of the leagues in the team need goaltending. There are probably only 5 established top-notch goalies in the league. If you can get a guy that makes big saves in crunch time then you are doing pretty well.
