I was with you.

I still am. The goalies are bad and one being 41 years old really hurts this team because he can’t play but every 90 days.

Well gee crupper, that seems like apples and oranges. You earlier complained that none of the reporters are asking about where a rostered player slots into the roster next year even though this year isn't over. That's a stupid question on a variety of levels.

Of course reporters are going to ask about pending free agents possibly being moved. They asked KA that last year and he answered it. They already asked him about his approach to the deadline this year and he answered it.

DeBrincat is a pending free agent?

I must have missed it when we beat a ton of teams that were better than us in December and January. There is this narrative that we scored 6 goals every game and that UPL escaped with his life. Did we forget all of the games where we were outplayed by better teams and he kept the ship upright so that we could eventually get our sea legs and score some goals? Did I imagine all of that? Our offense has been in a slow decline for a while but the hot streak continued.

imo upl would be an average back up around the league.

He isn't signed but not a free agent. Very similar circumstance. It would be expected that he would be in the conversation to be moved given his contract status and the team not being good.

you mean that same span when we lost games with him giving up 4+ goals and winning games with him giving up 4+ goals?

But that's part of the point - we have no idea. 35 games. All the kid can do right now is prove that he belongs and get better. He has gotten noticeably better as the year has gone on. The team thrived as he grew.

Also, nobody was saying any of this before the 3 game losing streak. Except for our resident out-of-the-box thinker, of course.

Never get in someone's way when they're trying rationalize an L. He'll tell you next Ottawa hasn't dealt with injuries this year.

Good reporters ask critcal questions and GMs can choose to answer them or not. Kevy doesn't even have to make that choice.

Well, yes, there were some of those games. And there were even more games where none of that happened. At times we get our teeth kicked in defensively - it is amazing that we complain that we need more better players in one breath and then ignore our defensive issues when it comes to this conversation.

Take a look at his game logs in December and January. That's not impressive? We won, but we didn't win by a big enough margin? We got our teeth kicked in against the Kings the other night. Do you think they are down on his goalie because the team stopped playing in the third?

It's ok crupper. I guess we'll all die not knowing what Adams thoughts are on a rostered player a year from now. Say, why did the Ottawa reporter only ask about players not signed for next year? Is the kid from the ECHL going to make the team? Yeah, real critical questions.

Need to improve on those flaws and anytime someone wants to bring in a player to help those needs people whine and cry about them. Get Clauge and Bryson the hell out of there and get a D man who can help out their goalie. People love OLo and his minus 12 I can get those goals out of someone who can not be a total siv on D. Yes he got better but that still isnt good enough

In 10 of those 16 wins in that stretch you mention they scored 5 or more…..

Don't listen to Marty and Duffer if you want a warm fuzzy about last night.

Duffer's ripping the rookies, Marty's ripping Vic. They both want Meier.

You look at those logs and THAT is what you come away with? That tells me nothing of how he played. We both know why you left that part of the equation out - it didn't support the narrative.

I'll put a bow on this as it spiraled into a different question. I am not saying that UPL is god or that he should even be the starter next year. All I am saying is that when you consider the state of goaltending in the NHL right now (and the scoring explosion - something else that isn't brought up much), it wouldn't surprise me if we can't do better. Again, look at the goalies that moved last offseason - it wasn't good. If we can go out and get a guy like Saros, great. But who else would be a target where we could reasonably expect to be an upgrade over UPL? That's all I was really asking.

Herin lies the anger. This is 2+ year problem. This ain't new. This is a major failure of the Adams admin. Right up there with the Alien and Sedition Acts.
