It's not a mystery what truly drives the offense for the Sabres, and it isn't the top line.

It's why getting a defensive defenseman doesn't begin to solve their issues, especially against teams that work hard to limit rush chances by the Sabres.

Why not throw one of those 2nds to Montreal for Josh Anderson

The forward group still needs improving, but it's glaring how different the team looks when Dahlin or Power are driving play, compared to the negative impact any of the other defenders have when they try to drive play offensively.
