UPL had a great game. It's a start. It was the Sharks not a power house like Dallas, TO, Boston, etc etc.. Some guys give UPL too much credit. It's a great game and that's it. I'd be concerned if KA rolls with him trying to get to the big dance. If we had the dual of Ullmark and Hutton from a few years back we would be in the playoffs. We couldn't score a goal when they played and now it's 4 or more. - Freddie krug
Well we don't have them, and UPL stole that game last night. Yes are goalie's need to improve but so does are Team Defense especially around the net. Think SJ had 10 high danger chances in the 1st period alone. They need to shuffle there bottom 3. Joker is bad, Samuelsson looks like he’s sleep walking or sniffing glue with the looks on the ice when the Camera catches him, he's been a train wreck for a month and a half. Maybe they should take a shot a Chicken man or Ekholm and put them with Dahlin.
Chychrun/Ekholm Dahlin
Samuelsson Power
Joker Lyubushkin can switch sides, they both can play LD and if the Top 4 find a groove the 3rd pair should only be playing 10 to 13min a night anyway. |

Tuch does a lot more on the ice than Olofsson does, that's for sure. - Buff36
😁
I'm just having fun. Empty net goals count for me. Some people though tend to criticize players who score them. |

Panthers lose
Islanders lose
Penguins lose
Capitals lose
Red Wings lose... all in regulation.
Sabres win
Who had that parley? Maybe the greatest standings luck day in the history of the Sabres. |

I've never understood where people are coming from on that. Empty net goals ensure 2 points 99.9% of the time. If Vic scores 10 on the year it means the team won those 10 games. |

Starting with the home game this Tuesday against Toronto, the Sabres play every other day, including a couple of back to backs, through March 21st.
They have 6 games over the 10 days from 2/21 to 3/2, leading up to the trade deadline on Friday 3/3. - kingcong39
I love the every other day. That's a fantastic way to get into any routine. A little roll becomes a long run much easier when you have the exact same schedule repeating itself every other day. That could be a sneaky, sneaky great thing for the good vibes crew. |

Well sure, but weren't a couple of his after we had already scored a empty netter to secure it. |

You know, I always thought that was obvious. Truly, I think people had the pitchforks and fires ready for Vic and just wanted to yell at him for waking up in the morning. It's out of love, so he understands.
Vic has an important market cornered for the Sabres. He rules the adolescent female jersey brigade (like Max Afinogenov before him), though Jack Quinn is a serious new contender. The Sabres know those numbers. Vic sells jerseys. He ain't gettin moved. |

They said on the broadcast the Sabres broke the franchise record for most empty net goals in a season and are tied for the league lead. if you’re leading the league in empty netters, that means you’re getting a lot of games to the garage. This is the kind of insight you get from the #1 fan. |

#2 not only did you swipe Bulldog's old phrase, you're repeating what was said several posts above.
You get an A for enthusiasm as per usual, but only a B- for bringing new insight.
You could raise the insight grade by comparing current ENGs with previous Sabre teams specifically and showing us their respective records side by side through 55 games.
You're still my favorite protege though! |

UPL wont that game for us last night.
If he plays like that for the home stretch we will make the playoffs. |

I agree he was very good. .943% is a godsend. That sort of game allows the team to play how they need to. He keeps the net Tuesday without a doubt.
However: 30 shifts, 26:51, 1 assist (though he could have had 3), +2, and he plays with a partner who shouldn't be a top pair defenseman. Dahls was excellent at both ends last night. Not his best game by any means, but just a ho hum Norris level game.

Is he ready to play yet? These hip surgeries seem to be working well for veteran players. |

Ducks @ Panthers playing a Presidents Day matinee. Go Ducks. Islanders @ Pens later that night. Who we rooting for in that one? On one hand it looks like the Isles because Pens have fewer games played, but Isles have more RWs. It’s a conundrum. |

Lulags and I both noticed bottom pair D were on the ice several times with the top line. That's generally not what happened earlier in the season.
Why?
I remember asking during a game in November why Mitts and Vic were always on the ice with bottom pair D, and we all kind of thought they were trying to maximize offensive output while Dahlin and Power were on the ice. The old outscore the mistakes thing.
Why change it now? Was it just the wonky luck of shift changes yesterday, or is this a new trend? The top line had some defensive issue with the old Claguer out there.
Are lulags and I imagining this? God knows the Buffalo media group wouldn't have noticed this. |

Gotta root for the Isles IMO. If Pit loses, that makes 2 WC spots 100% live for us. |

Let's just hope he can end his 6 game goaless streak.
Simply can't have him going on a long streak just before the trade dealine. |

A win Tuesday guarantees the Sabres will be playing meaningful games in March. Yesterdays win on top of losses for every team we needed to lose was clutch.
The Sabres control their own destiny right now which is all you can ask for.
