Pretty sound?
He is pretty below average at his angles
He isn’t great at reading the play
And weak glove hand
Also at times for being 6’5 looks small in net - Sabretooth9
His angles isn't the issue, the issue I see is he overplays the puck and even then most times he is hung out to dry by his defense.
Reading the play? I don't think we are talking about the same goalie. Maybe you don't watch every game.
You are just throwing poop at a wall.
The cross slot setups that leave UPL hung out to dry is usually 1-2 goals a game every game. |

Lulags and I both noticed bottom pair D were on the ice several times with the top line. That's generally not what happened earlier in the season.
Why?
I remember asking during a game in November why Mitts and Vic were always on the ice with bottom pair D, and we all kind of thought they were trying to maximize offensive output while Dahlin and Power were on the ice. The old outscore the mistakes thing.
Why change it now? Was it just the wonky luck of shift changes yesterday, or is this a new trend? The top line had some defensive issue with the old Claguer out there.
Are lulags and I imagining this? God knows the Buffalo media group wouldn't have noticed this. - lacaprup
We really need to get more D. Having the too line with Dahlin or Power is what we need. It creates way more offense, springing the forwards on stretch/ creative passes. That’s why trade and company were crushing earlier this season. |

They said on the broadcast the Sabres broke the franchise record for most empty net goals in a season and are tied for the league lead. if you’re leading the league in empty netters, that means you’re getting a lot of games to the garage. This is the kind of insight you get from the #1 fan. - Hatboro_Swords
Also, scoring an empty net goal seems “easy”, but they have more players on the ice and are really pushing to score. You can’t take a chance cause it could cost the team. So hard working and smart plays are needed, to help finish the game.
It also means you are in tight (one goalish games) which happens a lot in the playoffs and teams need to finish those out.
I love that we score so many and lead the league.
The Sabres having the most 20 goal scorers is perfect too, can’t stop just one player or line.
They really are building right (drafting is huge part here) and as much as I want trades, I like what they are building. If they can sign the D from college and maybe both goalies in college it would really help.
Loved the Jost claim and if they can get a solid vet d and another winger for this stretch run, it could help the team reach situations (playoff hockey) and they could grow even more, gaining that experience. |

He didn’t look like a 9 million dollar player - Sabretooth9
If you go with what Adams is saying, it's highly unlikely we trade for a forward, at least not a forward with term like Meier. He doesn't want to hold the kids back and the one that looks a little overmatched at this point and could be replaced is Peterka. I wouldn't mind seeing Peterka play a little more in Rochester. BUT next year we have Savoie, Kulich along with Peterka looking for spots and Adams doesn't want to hold them back. an expiring contract forward would make sense here, but Adams doesn't seem inclined to do that.
As for Defense, that's a totally different thing. We have 3 core, Dahlin, Power and Samuellson, though Sam has generally struggled a bit. Joker and Buch aren't youngsters and are replacement level players. Klague and Bryson are below replacement level and shouldn't be seeing the ice here. A RHD with term would be ideal here, but who is that? All of the D I see available and am interested in are LHD. I would be all in in Chiquorin, but that doesn't seem to be Adams thing. With Chiq your top 4 D would end up eventually costing you around $35m. Still I would be all in as you can do a lot with a top 4 of those and the D prospect pool is very bare. You literally would be holding nobody back. Johnson and Buch as 5 and 6 would be decent. |

They desperately need another play driver on defense.
I don't believe a defensive defenseman solves their issues or helps them with their preferred style of play. |

I agree with you. I think we all agree on that here - Sabretooth9
Actually that should not affect any deal for him, Buffalo could handle that QO and not affect a thing. But it's the pieces involved to get him that affect that deal without a extension. |

Which is Chiquorin. Despite being on a bad time, I read somewhere recently that he's the #2 D overall in both defensive zone exits and offensive zone entries. He is simply elite. I worry about his history of injuries, but we should 100% we trying to trade for him. |

Timo is a great player but he is going to get 9+ on the open market with the cap going to 92m in 2 years.
I can't see Buffalo paying him that much money and I am surprised Buffalo's name is coming up in the rumor mill. |

A wise poster on here, I don’t remember who it was, once said his dad would say when in a playoff race, you root for the team directly above you to lose. I’ve generally subscribed to this line of thinking since I read the take a few years ago.
This sounds crazy, but maybe it would be best for the Isles to win in OT. This would keep both WC spots alive for Sabres like you mentioned and doesn’t give the Isles another RW.
Still have a long row to hoe, but we haven’t had this much fun this late in a Sabres season in a long time. - Hatboro_Swords
I see what you're saying but it is crazy:
Rule #1 in chasing other WC teams: NEVER EVER root for OT when they're playing each other. 3 point games between them are disasters |

If the NHL went by points % Buffalo is in the playoffs. Go for it.
Bring in good players to add to this team.
Meier, Chiqorin, whomever.
Go get good players. |

I don't think its so much as that.
Dahlin is gonna get 10+
Power is gonna get 8+
If you bring in someone like Meier at 9
What will 4/5/6 defenders look like? We gonna be bringing in borderline NHL defenders to play that 4/5/6 spot.
I don't see Buffalo blowing their load on Meier. |

You know, I always thought that was obvious. Truly, I think people had the pitchforks and fires ready for Vic and just wanted to yell at him for waking up in the morning. It's out of love, so he understands.
Vic has an important market cornered for the Sabres. He rules the adolescent female jersey brigade (like Max Afinogenov before him), though Jack Quinn is a serious new contender. The Sabres know those numbers. Vic sells jerseys. He ain't gettin moved. - lacaprup
Paulacup,
You drinking already this morning?
You think someone looking for a Sabres Jersey isnt gonna just buy a different player ,if olofsson was traded?
There are very few olofsson Jersey in the crowd no less.
Way too many good players to choose from ☝️
*just acquired an authentic Brad may goat Jersey...... |

Is chickenrun gonna be happy as the 3rd defenseman on a team with 2 1OA'S on the roster?
His stats will directly relate to his new contract as this one expires. He's a true #1 and would be playing 25+ anywhere else.
Yes , you could argue he would be #2 here , eventually power will pass him.
Just an opinion |

What's your plan for the upcoming trade deadline and offseason?
Plan on adding any quality forward or defenseman of note, or just making minimal moves like last offseason and hoping internal growth is the answer? |
