Also, whatever the Leafs have left in the ammunition stores, I expect Dubas will throw at a depth defenseman before the deadline. It's all or nothing for him this year. He has no contract next season, and he's already spent a large chunk of the Leafs' future. Gotta go 100% if you're him. - lacaprup
Dubas has done what anyone should expect a GM to do to improve his team. Could be sometimes referred to as trial and error or shot in the dark but that's what needs to be done to arrive at the ultimate goal.
At some point KA has to stop hiding behind his plan and realize plans change, move faster or slower and a good GM will sense this and adjust. Sabres are ahead of what KA or anyone could have thought. Right now the teams biggest need is a goalie to help steady UPL. KA can wait and say he is going to follow the plan but what he's really saying is he's afraid to make the decisions that will truly define his GM career. Please Mr. KA, grow some big cachungas and show us how great thou are. |

I mentioned this here already.
If you compared the Sabres / bills rebuild
The Sabres would be like the bills going into Allen playing in year 2. Get your core in place and have them show promise.
Year 3 bills traded for Diggs. The Sabres can add this summer and build.
It doesn’t have to be right this second. |

New York islanders just announced that Barzal is out indefinitely. This is been the Sabres best chance to make the playoffs in 12 years they need to strike. |

The Isles are the least of our worries with or without Barzal.
Florida and Washington are bigger threats

You don’t go all in on making playoffs. You go all in on cup runs.
Timo Meier is demanding too much money and chick run the coyotes want savoie
You aren’t making either of those trades.
Hanafin, schenn, aren’t worth rentals for a playoff run |

I agree with this.
At the end of the day though. The Sabres pens caps Florida and islanders are all average teams with ups and downs
What ever team can sort of be consistent, will make playoffs. |

That is your opinion. In my opinion that approach is cowardly especially since there are players available right now of known quality that will not be available this summer. It also appears that comparably skilled players do not seem to be available either this summer. You might not get one but it is a disgrace not to pursue one.
Plus, I still maintain any team has an obligation to its fans to try to make the playoffs every year unless they are clearly out of contention. As of today the Sabres are IN the playoffs on a points percentage. Three points out and games in hand. Tons of cap space. There is in my opinion absolutely no legitimate reason they should not make some type of trade(s) to improve the team to try to make this year's playoffs, whether the Sabres get one of the top available players or not. |

I will take Nick Leddy.
Very good contract, acceptable cap hit for 3 more years and is better than Clague, Boosh and Bryson - sabresfan69

Sabres defenseman Kale Clague left practice early. Had trouble skating back to the bench and limped down the tunnel to the room.

Dude once you announce you’ve built a “cup team” you get to skip the first few rounds of the playoffs |

I am not saying the team should flop and die off and not try for playoffs.
The team has literally 0 obligation to appease the fans. Terry pegula already tried to play “be a fan gm mode” and how did that turnout?
Eherhoff. Regher leino etc.
How did that turn out?
Or when pegula pressed Tim murray to speed up the rebuild with Kane oreilly Lehner.
How did that turn out? |

Wonder if he was hurt Saturday. Took a couple good hits and not sure if he played at all in the 3rd.

You want to talk about “vibes”.
8 Sabres players are having career best years. Points % they are in a playoff spot.
Hey guys i know you’re busting your asses but we’re going to use our cap space to help other teams ahead of us get better so we can acquire more picks. - ImThatGuy
I wasn't going to respond, but since you went off the deep end, let me help, if that is even possible:
I said like Minnesota in my post.
Who did Minnesota facilitate the trade to?
Right, Toronto, which is a team in the opposite conference from them.
Who gives a poop about laundering a pick for money for a team in the opposite conference? |

So because it didn’t work out before we should never try again, is your excuse.

With Kane's actual $ being so low, you'd be a fool not to take the pick.

Sabres have a long way to go to become a cup contender.
Just to make playoff this year:
- need a good goalie / goalie upgrade. UPL has shown flashes but he is way too inconsistent.
- add a top 4 defensemen like chick man
then run it.
If you can get kane for Pennies. Sure but I’m not trading more than a 2nd round pick for him |

Buy points percentage. The Sabres are currently in a playoff spot. FYI meaning they are playing better hockey the teams currently in front of them they have just played 4-5 less games.
keep adding to those list of excuses. I’ll have the list in a little bit. It’s pretty long.
imagine what playoff experience would do to a young team. |
