Agree with your post.
Seems like management would like to see what they have in upl, instead of punting the goalie situation - Boss34
Is bringing in Varlamov, let's say as a UFA for 2 seasons, and finding somewhere to trade Comrie, punting the goalie situation, or is it a way to insure the team has a quality goaltending tandem for all 82 games, and minimally one starter (if UPL has setback)?
Varlamov's age is a question mark.

Sabres still keeping tabs on Meier….
https://www.thefourthperi...de-talks-picking-up-steam - Lilroot9
My prediction is Meier to Carolina.
They have $10M in cap space, which is plenty of room to bring in Meier and make another move.
They also don't care about a long term deal needing to take place. |

And it gives Levi time to adjust in Rochester for a bit. |

That's a hugely important part of it.
I do not want to go another season of hoping Levi is rushed to readiness. |

Agreed, just get him signed and let him adjust to the grind. Would much rather go into next year with UPL Valarmov than UPL Comrie |

Peterka to the press box for JVR?
Peterka rotating in when someone needs a break, or there's an injury? - kingcong39
Sure you don't give up any really valuable pieces JVR walks at the end of the year and you have another year for Seeler at 800k |

I hope you're right and honestly I forget about Ostlund all the time of the 3. Savoie was the 1st guy, top 10 guy, I was excited when we got him. Kulich is in Rochester so I hear about him all the time. Ostlund is far away and he's out of sight and out of mind. If some of these guys can hit and be serviceable or better NHL players that's amazing. Plus a 1st and 3 2nds in what is supposed to be a good 2023 draft. Stock the cupboards, see what comes out of it - Zschalberg
Ostlund is probably 2-3 years away. Another year overseas and a year in the AHL but he is playing against men and 4th in total points with 10 less games. Ohgren and Letterimaki were rated higher than Ostlund and aren't even close to him on the scoresheet.
Ostlund is being used in all situations while Ohgren and Letterimaki are 4th line players. |

If they are that concerned about Levi not signing due to perceived competition, and he doesn't sign when his college season is over, then it's time to stop being held hostage by college players. |

Pending the Flyers ask, I like it, and it wouldn't hinder the development of Peterka either. |

Too complicated, just bring Anderson back. The light schedule this season will keep him young

That would be a huge slap in the face if Levi doesn't sign. What a disaster that would be for Adams. |

Those are a couple really good points.
Again, I'm juggling my opinion on what the Sabres are likely to do, and what makes sense.
Varlamov would signify a "we're going for it" gesture.
I'm talking more of a deadline move.
I think we need a vet to replace Anderson/ comrie next season for sure.

How many years to actually be a nhl starter for Levi? |

Friendly out of town scoreboard again. Ottawa cant generate a shot right now in the 3rd, let alone a tying goal, and Gibson is trying his best to shutdown the Cats. 43 saves for him right now. |

Would you really mess with this Bruin team if you were in charge? Ottawa desperately needs to tie this game, and they just can't generate anything against the Bruins.
Do you (frank) with something working as well as these Bruins? It's not like they don't have the playoff winners already. I could easily see them standing pat or just adding something incidental. |

If you resign Varlamov you block Levi. The way Adams talks about him he's basically rolling out the red carpet, doesn't want anything in his way. Probably wants to make sure he signs here rather than playing another year in college and then walking - Zschalberg
in what world does a 34 year old goalie (35 in april) block a 21 year old kid |

They're reportedly looking for a team to take on Craig Smith's contract so they can make a move to bolster their roster.
The East is going to be a war. |

I don't remember the last time one conference was so dominant. I think 5 EC teams would win the WC.
Boston
Carolina
NYR
Tampa
Toronto
And then someone from the West will win the Stanley Cup because whomever comes out of the East will be dead men walking. |
