I don't think he has it in him to trade away Knies and another first plus...err...I dunno Anderson or some pooplord.
- AdamFrench

he doesn't need to make a blockbuster trade but at some point you'd think he'd risk something different instead of having the same approach again before going in the playoffs.

Dubas seems very methodical, which isn't a bad thing at all for a GM, but perhaps there is such a thing as being too methodical.

the caps and their silly cap problems lol.

but seriously though that might be something Hughes will consider, being sort of the third wheel in a trade to facilitate cap management for another team by taking on a bad contract.

Caps have been killed by injuries and aren't a real contender. They should sit put and let it run by, but then again, it's the Caps so they will probably overpay for some bum.

Unsurprisingly, the Canadiens lost 6-2 to the Hurricanes last, the Carolina team had won 12 of its last 14 games and had an 8th game winning streak at home, but the result matters very little.

I would say he lacks creativity and is unwilling to bend /pivot on the investments he has made in some players.

I was gonna make a joke about how you're showcasing your talents for being "tĂȘteux", but that's probably getting old by now.

that, and also he might be too confident in his group, thinking if it ain't broke don't fix it, and that it's only a matter of time before success happens...

Habs have a little bit over 5M in cap space. not using it would be silly.

also, something I find hasn't been talked about much for trading a guy like Monahan, the trade could be for conditional picks, meaning that the pick would be valid as long as Monahan plays a certain % of playoff games, which could make a lot of sense for all parties involved.

yes that makes sense, but teams ready to spend to go deep want something sure.
why trade for Monahan and take a guess when you can trade for another player just as good but healthy? I get it wouldn't cost them much if Monahan is injured, but that doesn't help them winning games.

there aren't hundreds of Monahan-type players out there though, and it's not that risky since the team trading for him wouldn't lose a high pick if he's injured again in the first round for example.

no, but they would not have the player they were expecting. like I said they want a sure thing here. there's no 2nd chance.
I like Monahan, but if I was the GM of CAR or COL... I'd look elsewhere. I want to win the cup, not acquire a guy that maybe won't cost me much because he won't help me.
ROR would be my target, even if the cost is higher.

meh, of course you want a "sure thing", but Monahan could become an interesting option once the more high-end players have been dealt, which again I don't think that many are available. we'll see what happens anyway with his god damn day-to-day status.

Monahan would be a great add if the price is right for any team...if he's not one legged.

this has been the main issue yes, I get that he wanted to play against his former team but I still don't understand why the habs let him play in CGY while he was wearing a boot before the game, absolute nonsense.
