So the Sens have retired Chris Neil's jersey ...

They have a nice sense of humor in Ottawa.

EDIT: When are the Habs retiring George Laracque's number?

I know believe me ... I worked for 30 years in Ottawa, I had more fun when I visited a morgue.

imagine the morgues in Ottawa... they're probably just a black hole.

Not a fan, but he did play 1000 games+ with them and they're a franchise that started in the 90's with little actual history. Not everybody can have the Habs' legacy where even elite players get turned upside down in comparisons.

I'm hoping you're being disingenuous... you don't need to have a rich history like the habs to set the bar higher for retiring a jersey than (frank)ing Chris Neil

They retired Chris Phillips, a man at his best being a 3rd defender who was loyal. It's going to be a long time before they have real people to retire other than Alfy.

well if that's the case, then so be it, no point in forcing things and retiring any guy's number that had a positive impact on the community or whatever. I'm not appalled by it, they can do whatever they want in Ottawa, I just find it's kinda silly... they could've commemorated Chris Neil without this jersey retirement thing lol. in the end, as a habs fan in Gatineau that sort of hates the sens, I can't complain, this is entertaining in a way.

anyway they should have a statue of mr. Neil in front of the Canadian Tire center of this exact pose, it would be simply majestic.

what was the trade? i haven't seen anything

IDK. doesn't seem like they overpaid to me. a late 1st and some filler. unless you think gaudette is the steal. blues have dealt tarasenko and ROR and pretty much got bupkis back

Accari
Pillar

STL gets
a 23 1st
a 23 3rd (og ott)
a 24 2nd
Gaudette
Amirov

Min gets
a 23 4th

STL eats 50% of ror's salary, Min eats 25% of it

it really isn't. he is gambling that it is a very late first and the rest is just pieces to make the blues feel better.

ROR is a improvement over Kampf as a 3C and accari is a decent 4th liner/PK dude who could make a nice forward pairing on the PK with Kampf.

i am not a fan of ROR but i don't think its a bad move at all.

If it works, it’s worth it. Heck of a leader he just got there and one who doesn’t vanish in the playoffs…hopefully now Colorado panics and circles back to Monahan
