Well, this definitely takes the Leafs out of the Kane sweepstakes. At least that talk can end now. |

It would make it better, but he has been very bad this year. He's not the same player he was. I hope a trade reinvigorates him, but I'm not holding my breath. - Archaic
check his playoff video from last April/May - he was a beast. Lost his linemates this year, injuries and poop team ...fingers crossed that he's healthy. |

If the Leafs don't win a round this will go down one of the worst trades lol.
I hope they get through. Not sure how much he'd want to resign. - Archaic
Why? Seems pessimistic for pessimisms sake.. |

That's why I had Sandin to SJ in my Gm'ing made easy post.
Not that I think the Leafs are gonna actually trade for Meier or anything, but I do think the Leafs have a leg up on most other teams if they offer Sandin, because of the reported ask of a D-man. And I don't think other teams can/would offer better than Sandin. - GreatGigInTheSky
When I looked at prospects in the NHL the devils were the only team with a fair number in the top 100. I cant recall if any were Ď though but my gut tells me NJ is the front runner for his services. |

I know but I was thinking maybe he extends. Kampf is 28 and Acciari is 31. More likely Acciari would be willing to take less to be in a spot for longer than Kampf. I really like Kampf but I can see him testing FA.
I should say I like theres 3 options for 3rd line center for next year. Hopefully one signs. - Aaron_85
The options look good for sure |

You were right
As I said the majority didn't. A few did like yourself. Which how he turned out made me want RoR this year. Worth the risk. Was hoping to not pay a 1st but hey, thats the cost. |

Ive been saying all year they will get past the 1st round. ROR and Acciari add good depth and punch for a series with tampa.
But if vasy plays better than he did last year, it could be trouble.
Time will tell.
I think they see the 3rd round min....fingers crossed |

So for retention does that mean "on paper" ror got traded to Minnesota and then traded to Toronto? If so then I hope RoR gets a minny sweater with his name on it |

Hopefully he shoves his career earnings up his ass and plays for a good team (Ie-TOR) on the cheap, looking for more wins than dollars. But you are right, he might still be trying to penny-pinch and sniff out the highest bidder. We will see! |

Remember a week ago Dubas lied to the media and everyone saying he wasn't going to pay a first round pick for a rental player?
This guy hates anyone reading his moves.
But he has done his Dubas usual:
Not really gone after the guys people talked about too much lately
Made his deal weeks in advance of the deadline
Didn't move anyone off the active roster |

Seeing it this way too… letting RoR move over to the wing will be both beneficial to him as a player and that line in general, it could end up extremely powerful |

As I finally learned of all the pieces to this trade I like it (I think).
Giving up the 1st hurt a bit but the fact the Leafa are only paying 1.75M prorated for the rental makes me ok with it.
Lots of picks out but 2 x NHL centres in and a young prospect for what they gave up seems like a gamble worth taking to me.
I would imagine Dubas will still be looking to make a deal for D help (or maybe a 2nd wing LW? Gimme that Barbrapappa)using current roster players to do so. Too many centres now, and some other pieces that could be moved (bottom 6) and d can go out if D coming in.
I’m pumped to get to be at the game tomorrow apparently ROR and Acciari are expected to be there and available to play! I hope both get in the game and kick ass!
Added bonus you know Boston and Tampa for sure (and likely other teams) hate they the Leafs got ROR. I was afraid one of those 2 teams would get him.

Lol pretty much bang on although this year I’m curious if he’ll do something a bit more considering where he stands personally contract wise |

Dubas and the leafs have 4.4 in deadline space after this trade according to Capfriendly. They have the space to make a move for a decent dman aside from a first round pick this year.
