Lol pretty much bang on although this year I’m curious if he’ll do something a bit more considering where he stands personally contract wise - Dozzer
That's been my thought this whole season. I figured it might spur him on and so far it's looking like a yes.
It'll be hard to do more, but throwing in a couple guys like Kerfoot, Engvall, or Holl could clear the needed CAP space and contract space.
Excited to see what else comes. |

Draft capital issues aside, the Leafs are deeper and better with this move, methinks.

I doubt Knies plays in the playoffs. I worry about him going up against Tampa’s third line after 3 games in the league or being stuck on against the top line after an icing. Heard him say he needs to work on his first step in his skating and the move from playing on Olympic sized rinks makes decision making even more challenging. Maybe it’s easier if they can protect him with ROR and someone but it seems like a risk and I’m a big Knies fanboy - Canada Cup
You might be right, but they wanted him to sign last year.
And some scouts are saying he's NHL ready now.

Dubas and the leafs have 4.4 in deadline space after this trade according to Capfriendly. They have the space to make a move for a decent dman aside from a first round pick this year. - Aaron_85
Oh? Didn't know we had that much CAP space. |

4.4 in LTIR salary pool (click over the blue link beside the $$).
Once Murray is back they'll be back to ~1M with a full 23 man roster. - The Law
Damn. Ok, so trading guys to create more CAP space is back on the table. |

They can acquire all kinds of draft picks in the rebuild after their 2 Stanley Cup wins this year and next. |

Noel Acciari was a good pickup for the Leafs as well, if you can keep him on the leash. He won't let Maroon or anyone else push him around.

I think any good GM should swing for the fences when you have a roster as close as the Leafs do right now. |

I wonder if he trades some guys to get some picks back along with a depth d man.
- dozerD10
Feels like he almost has to.
Kerfoot-redundant/RoR brings more and cheaper,
Holl-redundant, not good enough for #4,
Sandin-not good enough but good trade chip,
Engvall - UFA/Acciari brings more and cheaper
Anderson - absolute nothing player, no discernable talent or specialty
= $10M+ in Cap
Kerfoot = late 1st or 2nd and prospect in a trade
Holl = 3rd or B+ prospect
Sandin = late 1st or 2nd and prospect in a trade
Engvall = 2nd and B+ prospect
Anderson = AHL
He could recoup some assets and/or use Sandin/Kerfoot in a package to upgrade 2LW/D.
Engvall for Schenn straight up. Fair deal.
Sandin/Kerfoot for Barbashev. Might need an add on either side.
Clears cap, could get some picks back and the Leafs could go into the playoffs with:
Bunting, Matthews, Nylander
Barbie, Tavares, Marner
Knies, RoR, Jarnkrok
Acciari, Kampf, ZAR
Rielly, Brodie
Gavrikov, Schenn
Gio, Lily
Benn, Timmins
Sammy
Murray
Looks pretty balanced with some snarl and a huge upgrade all around.
Edit: not sure how I expected the Leafs to get Gavrikov but makes the line up look good |

unfortunately, anderson, savard and the pez dispenser are going to show kylie why he needs to trade for them in order to advance beyond the first round 🤦♂️
10-3 habs😭🤦🏿♂️
anderson, savard and pez dispenser with hatties🤦♂️
allen breaks the goalie goal drought 🤦🏿♂️
oreilly with 2&2👍
acciari 1,3, 11 hits and 12 pims👍🏿😍 - Skalapy
If this happens you can add in Cush being escorted out of SBA for “causing a scene” and being drunk and disorderly. 🤣😳🤣

Sheldon Keefe says it was tough to sleep last night while thinking of the different options he now has
i]Sheldon Keefe says Ryan O’Reilly and Noel Acciari were both “adamant” about making their Leaf debuts tonight against Montreal.
I wonder who is coming out of the lineup. |

I’d love to see some “held out for trade purposes” attached to those healthy scratches (but not Timmaaaay). |

Uggh now how am I going to nap when my wife goes shopping this afternoon!
Another Blues writer (Jeremy Rutherford) called Accairi and RoR as the Blues most competitive players. Love that ...
*and it's got to be Holmberg and Anderson out I think. |

Probably Anderson and Holmberg. I like Holmberg though..... Hope we do not trade him.
