Honestly, to me, this is a huge overpay. I liked O'Reilly, ever year, but this one. He has been awful. What is with Dubas giving firsts for over the hill players. Feels like 90s Leafs.

O'Reilly is a proven playoff performer. He'll ramp it up, going down the stretch and into the playoffs. Still need that quarterback on defense.

But frankly the acquisition cost - Abramov, Gaudette and a 1st isn't that bad. ROR has been absolutely terrible until the past 2 or 3 games. Let's hope he turns it around and keeps it going. Regardless, he'd definitely be better at Kampfing than Kampf has been of late.

I'm not a gigantic Acciari fan, but he can be effective. Santo should be happy.

I have a hard time officially calling him over the hill just because he's had a bad season so far. It is a gamble to see if he can pick it up, but it's not unreasonable to think he can. That said, maaybe an over pay. Even if we got to keep any one of those picks, I think that woulda been fine. We overpaid by like a 3rd rd pick and I personally don't care.

At that point it becomes much much more.

Wouldn't say I hate it, I don't. But it's a significant pricetag at that point for a guy who has the potential to Foligno us.

I very easily trade another 1st, Minten type prospect, Holl CAP/contract dump, and whatever else is needed, that isn't Knies, to get Chychrun.
